Hi,

Does anyone have experience purchasing and using a Disney Premier Passport? My husband and I are looking to purchase the Premier Passport for our upcoming WDW and DLR trips. We've already purchased Parkhoppers for our upcoming WDW in February and therefore would need to upgrade our tickets to the Premier Passport.

Any tips or words of advice would be appreciated.

Thanks. :thumbsup2

You can upgrade your current tickets at any of the Guest Relations Booths
OUTSIDE the front gates of the four major WDW theme parks (but not at Epcot's International Gateway.)
Also can be done at the Guest Relations at DTD.

If you purchased your tickets anywhere other than directly from Disney by website or phone,
it would be a good idea to use your MYW tickets at least one time BEFORE you do the upgrade.

I've heard that we can upgrade our tickets at our resort. From your experience, is that not true? We're arriving early evening so while a park visit is not out of the question, it would simply be nice to have everything set upon check-in.

I believe the AP at resorts thing didn't work out so that isn't an option for any kind of AP. AS for the Top of the line "gold" Ap those can only be done at certain places as they require special ( ie: gold plastic) stock. I loved mine year I had it, my only issue was lack of CM knowledge on what it was how to treat it. ( I had it first yr they were offered)

The resorts can't do anything in regard to AP's.
The resort computer system doesn't link up with the guest AP info.

BTW, from where did you purchase your current tickets?

The DPP tickets require specific information and there are a very limited number of the special encoders which can handle these. They are only at the outside Theme Park Guest Relations windows and the two DTD Guest Relations locations.

I've done it twice. Once the first year they were out and I have one now.
They are much better about understanding them now. Although I have had a few funny moments when showing one for a discount in a store and the CM thinking it was a credit card and trying to swipe it.

Occasionally in Disneyland they have to manually type in the number since WDW number system is used and has more numbers than the DL system. Again this is much better now as more CM's have experience with it.

I did have to go to Guest Relations my first day in WDW and "activate" it for WDW. Not sure if that will apply to you if you go to DL after WDW.

Oh, and don't forget to register it on both the DL AP site and the WDW AP site.

Thank you, everyone, for your great advice.

I really appreciate it. We purchased our tickets online through the Disney website while purchasing our vacation package.

What are the benefits of registering our passes through the DL and WDW AP website?

Thanks again!:thumbsup2

I didn't have to when I used mine at DL but it was suggested I go and have picture taken which I did.

We got ours at DLR. There was no need to activate them at GR in WDW on the first use. I had already registered the passes on both DLR and WDW sites.

The benefits in DLR are great! 15% off all food and 20% off merchandise. We love it.

We are upgrading this year to the Premier Pass for our Honeymoon. First we will renew our APs and upgrade to the WDW top level and a bit later do the full upgrade.

Thank you for posting this. With 2 business trips to Anaheim, 1 to Orlando and a WDW 2 week vacation planned in 2013 I think that the premier passport will be a good value for me. My only question-- if we book our WDW vacation and it is during free dining, can I pay for me to get free dining (husband & kids will get it because they will have room/ticket reservations)...if that makes sense.

everyone in room has to be on same deal from get go for booking so you would have to either book AP rm with dining plan ( pay for all dining plan) or book pkg with min tix ( 2 day) and keep your ticket for another trip or let DH use it in addition to his.

You get access to the Passholder website. It usually lists upcoming/current AP offers. For example, if you go to MNSSHP, you can purchase discounted tickets through the AP site. Just note, that they DL and WDW sites are independent, so you'll need to register on both sites.

The discounts are great at DLR. Just note that as a PP mentioned, not all CMs are familiar with the Premier passport. So watch the register to make sure they give you the correct discount. At WDW this doesn't matter as much because everyone gets a 10% merchandise discount, but at DLR there is a two tiered discount system (20% for Premier and Premium, 10% for the other APs).

We upgraded our WDW annual passes to Premier ones at DL in January. It was easy to do, but had to be processed at the Disneyland Guest Services. They asked for our photo and it was easy to do. We just went to a Photopass person (we were told to go to any of them) and they took our photo and swiped our Premier Passes. The photo was supposed to then be in the system. We never did see it because we left the next day.

I am having a terrible time trying to use the new Disney Experience site for Passholders. It keeps looping around when I try to enter my passholder info. I will keep trying.

Did you just pay the difference between what you paid for the WDW annual passes and the cost of the premier pass? Was this amount prorated? Thanks!

Yes, it's the difference between the price you paid at WDW and the price of the Premier. They do not prorate the amount.

Hi - newbie Premier Passport question here - just wanted to check- if ONE member of the party has a PPP does the 15% dining discount apply to the total dining bill - or just the passport holder's meal?
(We are visiting WDW and DL in May-June and trying to do the math to see if it makes sense for either DH or myself to buy a PPP to get the discounts)
Living a gazillion miles away in NZ we won't be visiting again this year, so the number-crunching has to make it worth it!
TIA
