I was just lurking around on the budget boards and I saw that the US Goverment is coming out with Disney postage stamps. They are really adorable!! I am sorry I don't know how to do that linking thing, but hop over to the budget board and check out the stamps. They have a link posted there to actually see the stamps. The release date is June 23rd.

Just thought you all might like to know!

P.S. the posters user name is Tigger1

If I remember reading it right, they are going to issue 3 or 4 different sets as well. They are really cute! On one hand, I would want to save them, on the other, I would want to use them! Maybe I'll have to get more then one set!

Thx for the tip ~ can't wait ~ love them !! :cool2:

So who's going to be the first to get their Disney stamps postmarked from Castaway Cay?

WDWCrazzyCunninghams, yep, I remember seeing that too. But I can't remember if they're all coming out this year or if USPS staggering them.

I want to think it was going to be staggered? Over a few months? I think I read it in a Disney Magazine. Maybe last months issue.

If the release date is this June, then I will get them for our Christmas photo cards we'll have made on board! I don't know that I will have them mailed from CC though. I might just mail them when we get back to Orlando. I hear it takes a LOT longer for mail to come back from CC. As it will be, we'll be mailing our cards on the 23rd or 24th and I don't know that anyone would notice or appreciate the CC cancelation.

Just hope any new postage stamps will make the postcards arrive in better time! Still waiting here for 20 postcards to arrive - posted on 12th March!Would have been quicker to bring them home to UK and post them! Perhaps "Grumpy" in CC P.Office needs a bit of pixie dust sprinkled over him!Nat:Pinkbounc

I was definitely thinking more just for scrapbooking/souvenir use then actual mail. Just like everybody using bad addresses to get their Elvis stamps send back with 'Return to Sender' on the envelope. No, I did not do that. Well, maybe. ;)

I remember the day that the Elvis stamps were released. My local post office marked them "Return to Sender" that day for anyone who wanted it. Sadly, my set was lost in a move. :(

Ummm... you couldn't have them postmarked at Castaway Cay because they're U.S. Postal Service stamps. The post office at Castaway Cay is operated by the Bahamas postal service. But I'm sure you could get it postmarked at WDW or Disneyland.

Now this would be great if they offer them in .23 cent postcard stamps, then we could attach them to the DCL postcards that are sent out.

:scratchin
Hmmmm, Save them, Use them, Save them, Use them.
get them before the cruise - most definitely. Now I plan to mail post cards from Key West to avoid the l-o-n-g delay in getting them to their destination. (I always mail my WDW postcards by the second day I am there. That way they get home before I do or at least by the time I do.) :yo-yo:

Now big question. Where do they sell postcards on the Magic? I'll need to but them as soon as possible so that I can send them from Key West!::yes::

I thought I had read that the sets of stamps would be issued over the next few years - not all at once or even over a few months. I could be mistaken, it happens a lot these days. Glad to have a date. I've been having lots of conversations with the post office I visit about wanting the stamps. The postal worker didn't even know they were coming out, so it may be Christmas before I get mine. I did bring the pictures of the stamps to show him.

There is a good selection of postcards to be found on the Magic in the shops: however, dont plan on the cards arriving home before you do! Posted ours 14 days ago - and STILL no sign of any being delivered!Would have been quicker to attach them to a seagull! Nat:Pinkbounc

Well, a postcard with a .3X cent stamp will get where it's going, too......It just has a little more invested in its "permit to mail".
