Although I have been to WDW numerous times I have not been interested in seeing any of the recent Disney and Pixar movies so there's some money Disney is not adding to their bottom line.

Answer 2: "We'll make fewer bad movies, and make them cheaper! We won't have to do anything except blame the business consultants when this doesn't work. Let's lunch at Spago!"

I think you have seriously glossed over the medium ground. Look at the movies they have made in recent years, and look at the success rate. You can't keep throwing money into ventures that aren't returning on them. It's very easy for us to sit back and say "just make better movies." MAYBE it's an indication that they've not been trying hard enough. MAYBE it's an indication that they have over extended themselves in a particular market.

I don't see this move as a decision to adopt either one of your options. I see it as:

Answer 3: "Stop making the bad ones, and focus on a smaller number of good ones that have actually worked out for us before the large number of bad ones pull the small number of good ones down with it."

Yes it is unfortunate that people will lose their jobs. And I know this sounds harsh, but that's showbiz. It's a VERY tough market and it's a calculated risk that people take when they go into it. I'd love to be a fiction writer full time, but quite frankly I'm not good enough, and I KNOW I'm not good enough, so I keep my nice stable day job that isn't going anywhere any time soon.
