Disney Policies: A Question About Seabreeze Point

Friends recently stayed at the Yacht Club and during their week long stay and saw at least 4 wedding take place in Seabreeze Point. I have never seen this venue/location so am not sure what it entails. From what they saw it appears to be an open venue that people can walk up to and in to at will. While they were walking the boardwalk they walked into Seabreeze Point on more than one occasion.

I'm just wondering how things work with Disney, Seabreeze Point and vow renewals. They will celebrate their 25th Wedding Anniversary and are wondering what the 'rules' of Disney are. Can a couple have an 'unnoficial' vow renewal on Disney property without the use of a Disney Wedding planner or is that not acceptable to Disney? I have visited Disney many times and helped numerous families plan trips but the Wedding/Vow renewal area is new to me.

We in no way want to do something against Disney policies so this is our first inquiry about what can/cannot be done.

Thanks for any help you can offer to this wedding/vow renewal newbie.

any vow renewal or wedding on property must go through DFTW. there are some other places and things offered in the area (swan and dolphin, DD area options) but nothing else on property? trying to organize a public “ceremony” could get you booted out of the resort or even banned! certainly, you can have a dinner, make a toast, have pictures taken somewhere etc (within the “rules”) but actual weddings’ renewals without disney is verboten!

and yes, there are definitely outdoor sites that are accessible to other guests. during the time the event takes place, DFTW can assist in keeping out the “outside world”! :thumbsup2

ETA - certainly other “special events” could be organized, from dinners to flowers in your room etc... lots of ideas here!

Thank you so much for your quick response. What you mentioned is exactly why I asked here. This question was new to me so I wanted to be able to provide an accurate answer to them.

As you can tell from my original post, we only what to do what is allowed on property so asked her to become better informed about what is and is not allowed.

One more quick question, what does DFTW stand for?

Thanks again.

We were married at Sea Breeze Point and your wedding coordinator and any other cast members there to help will definitely "shoo" people away if they stand and watch too long or get too close. Personally, I didn't mind people on the BoardWalk watching, but that's Disney'd policy in general.
You CAN hang out/walk up to/in SBP at any point there is no ceremony or event going on there. But you CANNOT have any sort of wedding or VR anywhere on Disney property without going through DFTW as others here have posted.
We have seen a number of weddings there since ours when we go and I always try to take a pic or two just because it's so nice to see other couples getting married where we did. After about 30 seconds thought, we're on our way. :goodvibes

I was married at Sea Breeze Point (years ago--time flies when you are having fun ;) ) and I can say that if felt "private" throughout the ceremony. If people stopped to watch I honestly didn't mind--who doesn't love a wedding? The planner and staff keep people from intruding, but most people are respectful and wouldn't intentionally intrude.

And I had lots of shots (photo shots, not, you know, tequila shots, LOL) pre-wedding taken in the lobby and grounds of the GF and there was a little crowd gathered to watch Randy Chapman (the photographer) work, but I was fine with that. Everyone was very sweet, and although I felt like we were sometimes intruding, people were so kind about staying back and walking around. And there were so many compliments-- and that was making the photo session so fun. :goodvibes I really loved the little girls that were there for tea, asking me which princess I was. I pointed to my DF/DH and said "his! The Original Beast!" :rotfl:

And the little girls asking if they could "touch my dress". SO SWEET! I wanted to say, "Come be in my wedding! You all are just too precious!"

No worries about the wedding site, OP, and my experience with DFTW planners was :thumbsup2 to the tenth power! It was a wonderful, stress free experience. Cake, musicians, flowers; awesome, awesome, awesome!!! So exceeded my expectations, and trust me: I am uber picky!
