Disney , please don't do this...

Um.... couldn't someone buy more e-tickets back when MK first opened? Therefore they could do more than someone who bought less.

ETA: This is an actual question. I'm only in my 20s and have no idea how it truly worked when it first opened.

Yes, you could buy extra ride tickets at MK when it first opened until about the time Epcot opened. I don't think it was limited to extra "E" tickets either. I'm pretty sure you could buy extra sets of the booklets that were included in the admission price, with A to E tickets.

I used to be certain that Disney would soon start offering the option to pay for additional FPs. Now I'm far less sure. The capacity to do so just doesn't seem to be there.

I think they will truly keep a good checks/balances system in regards to FP+. If Disney was all about the money, there are many policies they could have changed years ago....like allowing you to bring own food/drink in parks, charging entrance fees at age one and older, etc...

the tickets we bought either . Always went home with extra tickets that we were going to use the next time we went but could never find them when we did go back (usually the following year) . LOL

Yep, I remember the books. We always left at the end of the night with a few books full of unused "lesser" rides.

You mean like these books? :)

Charging for them? No. Giving more to those staying at on-site resorts? Yes. I have no problem with that. Will not pay a dime extra for additional passes though.

This :thumbsup2

Yeah how dare Disney reward people that spend more money!

This is like the post complaining about all the magical amazing perks that DVC members get.

:) How about it!

GET OUT!! It looks like it.....? Circa 1978? aww, man....sniff, sniff....and my dad carrying around the video camera that was the size of a small TV! :rotfl: How did he ever do that? In florida. In june. :worship:

I don't understand why people are so against on-site guests having special privileges. Why wouldn't someone that paid to stay on-site have some kind of incentive to do so (besides the awesomeness of it). Everyone can get on the transportation. EMH's are getting shorter it seems. If everything is going to be the exact same then more and more people are going to stay off at a greatly reduced rate.

what Walt Disney himself intended when he got the idea for Disneyland . And I don't think he would like this practice if it is ever enacted . It should be equal access to anyone with any type of admission . At least that's what I think and how I believe Uncle Walt would want it as well . They certainly have the right to do whatever they want with their product and I don't begrudge them making a profit ...however I and I believe many other people think that Disney has always separated themselves from the rest of the pack by offering a superior family product and not bleeding their customers dry with extra costs just to enjoy their day at the parks . I'm afraid of WDW establishing a class system if the give these as extra perks for onsite guests and/or charging for additional FP+ .

Club 33. Did Walt Disney intend for that?

If the answer is yes, then he wouldn't be opposed to selling some additional FP tickets as it doesn't preclude anyone from riding what they want.

If the answer is no, then Disney has already violated Walt's wishes and there is no reason to think they wouldn't do it again if the cost benefit analysis deems it a good idea.

For one thing WDW already does a pay more play more type of thing in their "VIP Tours".

Of course only the very rich can afford these tours for the most part.. I mean $1800 a day for these tours is definitely out of the reach of most people unless you have a large group and split the cost.

So.. if WDW is suppose to be so "fair" and everyone is equal once you go through the gates, why on earth do they offer these front of the line access tours for people who have the cash? They do it because they can and want to cater to the wealthy... otherwise these tours would not exist. Disney is a business... period.

Unless you have a serious problem with these tours, I do not understand why you would have an issue to the average guest being able to purchase a few extras once they get to WDW. Most of us cannot afford a VIP tour but, we can afford to pay a little more for a few more FP's, I just do not see what the harm is.

And I do think if you stay onsite you should get some extra perks. Absolutely.
Staying offsite is a choice. Staying on site is a choice. I do not see an issue with Disney enticing people to pay their crazy resort prices by offering few extra FP's. If Disney offers their guests 2 extra FP's per day on a resort stay and people choose to pay the money because they think it is worth it then that is between Disney and their guests. If someone chooses to stay offsite because they do not think it is worth it, that is also their business but, they made that choice.

I doubt they will go this route but, if they did it sounds ok to me.

I would have no problem with them offering more FPs for those staying at moderate resorts, and even more for those staying at the deluxe resorts. As an added bonus, maybe it would keep people from booking throwaway rooms.

The question is how many could they give?

Do they keep 3 for values and everyone else? Values still have perk of 60 day booking.

Do they give 4 to moderates and 5 to deluxes? Do they remove tiering? Because honestly, what goes would 5 FP at Epcot do someone if they can only ride Soarin/TT once. I don't want 4 FP to Spaceship Earth and Maelstrom.

What about DHS? What good would 5 FP do someone if they can only ride TSM/RNR once?

This is my thought, exactly. We don't stay deluxe aside from a short portion of our split stay this year, and I still have no issue with an extra FP for deluxe guests as I don't think it will have a seriously negative impact on us at all.

Paying for FP? It's been part of the deal for park entry since it began so can you imagine what a ticket would work out to if you were adding say $20 per person to that?!

I hope the opposite. I would love to get extra for being a resort guest, and I would even more like to be able to pay for an unlimited front of line pass like you can at Universal. I'd pay in a second.

I agree...I would pay for unlimited FP and upgrade resorts for more perks.

They would have to charge an arm and a leg for unlimited FP. You're likely looking at $100 per person per day (AT A MINIMUM) (adults and children). Family of 4 staying 7 nights and that's an extra $2,800.

DavidNYC said:
This is why they will never charge. They may not follow everything Disney wanted but creating a pass like Universal would completely undermine everything they were founded on. They have enough methods to separate you from your money. Charging would backfire and would be a public relations nightmare.

You mean like charging extra for your unused days not to expire?

Charging for special tiers of fastpass would be the smartest thing they could do.

.... to ride attractions which up until now, we have always had included in our tickets. The standby line is not necessarily an alternative option given the impact that the system has had on it; you can't even look at a wait time posted before joining the queue and assume that it's remotely accurate.

Then they may as well have another ticket in the MYW selection for an extra $xxx that includes unlimited FP+

This would be the point where I think I might draw the line and say no more.

Pffffffffft......please. Why do people always think they can speak for Walt Disney, and attest to what he "would say", or "would think"? Walt Disney was a business man. He was a lot of positive things, and a lot of negative ones too, the man was not the saint we all paint him to be. As a business man, it's just as possible he'd be thrilled. The man was not your "Uncle".

And they already bleed customers dry, btw. How much is a bottle of water in the park? Or an ice cream cone? $500-$1000 a night to stay in a deluxe with a view of the castle, but other than that is a mediocre room. Come on now, let's just get real about this.
