Disney placed an advertisement for DVC on a popular internet website, one with a 'jungle-type' name in its title.

Anybody else notice this?

I don't get it either, but I am curious.

DVC has a 'sponsored links' ad on Amazon.Com

The link takes you to a very nice presentation about DVC.

The ads on the sidebar will vary, and I don't know if one of them is a DVC ad, but DVC is listed in the 'sponsored links' at the very bottom of the page.

NOTE: Amazon.com changes the home page a lot, often being totally different every time you go to it. I noticed the DVC ad does not always appear at the bottom of the page.

You can see the DVC site the link goes to by clicking here

This is the same Disney site that you can get to from a number of places from the Disney GO sites.

Notice the DVC site web page even has a place for members to log on.

If you click on the link above, it takes you to the site directly. If you go to amazon.com and click on the link there, it takes you to the same place, but Amazon.Com will then receive payment from DVC for the referral. (For you geeks out there, right click my link above and see the URL, and then go to Amazon.com, right click their link, and notice the difference in the URL. You can also click the small link on Amazon.com which explains their 'sponsored links' )

Disney is advertising on Weatherbug.com too. I have seen a DVC advertisment on it for the last 3 days.

thanks for bringing us up to speed! LOL

All that I could think of was Safari, and I knew that wasn't right as there is no safari jungle.

I remember this DVC page from back when I was looking and hoping that it had some helpful information. After clicking a few links, I realized that it was merely a cyberbrochure.

;)

I'm not sure how this all works, but DVC's ad is actually with Yahoo. Yahoo then works with other sites to display these ads, and when someone uses one of the links to go to an advertised site, the referral site receives some type of payment. I believe if you go to any of the sites that are displaying the ads, you'll see that they can change over time.

Most likely DVC has contracted only with Yahoo and not with the individual sites. It's possible it could start showing up on any number of other sites, anyone who may have contracted with Yahoo. (I think the sponsoring site can designate specific categories of ads.)

I'd rather that Disney use their technical ability to skip the ads and fix the member website that has't worked correctly in weeks.

:)

I didn't know if I could include the name, so I was nebulous.

Yes, this 'secret' ranks right up there with the secret that Darth Vader is Luke Skywalker's father.

You'd be surprised at how few know about it.

I noticed they push DVC heavily at the parks and you can't find anything about it outside the parks (that is, until recently).

I still think that if they were going to launch a new ad campaign they should have had more info about DVC on the episode of Extreme Home Makeover at HHI.
