I really like this shot. How did you get such a decent action shot that close up?:3dglasses

Several contributing factors. First, I was using ISO1600 on my Nikon D50; the D50 has very low noise at high ISO. Second, the lens I was using was the 70-300VR Nikkor (VR = Image Stabilization). Third, "Beast" was not moving at the moment this was taken, IIRC. Fourth, I just plain got lucky. Not all of my B&B shots turned out this good; quite the contrary.

We were sitting about halfway back from the stage. Exposure details were 1/160 shutter speed, 180mm focal length (about 2/3 of the full "reach" of the lens), f/5.3 aperture, which is pretty much wide open. I don't recall whether I had the WB on auto or if I used one of the presets. All PP was done in Picasa and included contrast and color balance adjustment, and cropping.

Hope that helps.

Question from a lurker. I see the cameras listed that you use. However, I don't know enough to know if they are digital or regular film?
Thanks, Penny:confused3

Welcome out into the sunshine lurker !:)

I would estimate that about 90% of the pictures here are digital - simply because digital gives you creative freedom to take as many pics as you want for no additional cost - then there is the opportunity to crop or post process them to get the perfect "keepers".

I  digital

Another fantastic shot MickeyAnne! Keep 'em coming! | LOL Dznefreek, so am I! Beautiful shot, great colors! | Neat shot Evad :thumbsup2 It really does look *turn of the century*... | Very nice willis37862... There's something that always catches my eye about B&W photos... | I really like this one ziggybaby... very cool effect :thumbsup2

Very nice shot, Joe. Love the space compression you have on that shot. Just out of curiosity, where were you when you snapped that one? My impression is that you'd have to be above the normal street level, in order to even see the Castle, from the entrance area in front of the train station/main gate.

Thanks Ed! To be honest with you, I can't remember where I was at... although looking back at the chronilogical order that the picture is in, it had to be taken from the boat from WL to MK... But yeah, I thought it was interesting the way it turned out.

BTW...my solo trips are :cloud9: since no one is there to make me leave the parks or ask me to act my age..:upsidedow :upsidedow
I agree! Solo trips rock. I need to get another one in here one of these days...

I see it too...weird, but cool. (I have had a couple of sips of wine...just put the kids to bed and decided to unwind with a glass of wine and the DIS) :lmao: I just sat down though, so the wine isn't an excuse. Maybe it's my old eyes.
Dang it... I don't see it. Maybe I need to drink more coffee this morning :lmao:

Seriously, though, there might be enough interest to put something together if a few of "us" are going to be or COULD be there simultaneously, or perhaps even at the same time!

~Ed
Yeah, that would be pretty cool... If anyone is serious about it, I might try to fly down for a day or two - one of them "solo" trips senecabeach speaks of. :rolleyes1

I really like that one. On the way in and...oooh, there's the castle! :goodvibes
Thanks so much! :)

Dang  If I ever get a DSLR I'm going to need some serious help.

Me, too, although I'm playing my cards close to the vest where Mrs. Y is concerned...don't want to push my luck! Would be very cool if some of us Disney photo fanatics could coordinate a day or two in the parks sometime. That would be serious fun, I think.

We'll be there October 13-20, staying at POR, our last trip to WDW for quite a while. I'll be taking photos right and left while we're there, that's for sure, although I'm not sure how much "spare time" we'll have. Hopefully I'll have a new camera by then. Gotta make sure I've enough to post here. But we will be making yearly trips to Disneyland when we're out in LA to visit family, so at least we'll be getting some Disney time in somewhere!

Here's my POTD:

Not the best picture... but I'm kind of running out.

Joe,

Sounds like a good excuse/plan to go restock your Photobucket account!

Since I didn't have my kids to torture with my camera (on our last trip), I found a few other willing subjects...

Earliest potential date for me is 12/08, but there is a thread over on the DIS Photo board that was posted a few weeks back, proposing a "meet and shoot" day in October. We'll be in the Blue Ridge Mountains so no-go for YEKCIM. Nothing to shoot up there in the mountains in late October, I'm sure; will probably just leave the cameras at home...:rolleyes1

It does sound like fun.

Speaking of the Blue Ridge mountains, that is where I am now. We are near Maggie Valley. Here is a picture I took just yesterday .....
