Disney Photopass worth it???

I'm a HUGE scrapbooker and keep every momento and take lots of pictures and relive the memories through the process of scrapping. Sooooo.... buying the photopass for ONE day in the Magic Kingdom is crazy, right? RIGHT??? Talk me down from the ledge.

We're going on a seven day cruise on the Magic after. I really wish the photopass would carry over to the boat. THEN it would be worth it!!

Well, if you've never been before, then no, I don't think it's crazy. If you have...maybe . You can always buy individual downloads if any shots you reeeeeeally like, and remember the PP photogs will take a shot with your camera too. The pics on the cruise are pretty expensive, so I'd save my $$ for that if you've never cruised. That's what we did one our one (and only *sigh*) land and sea trip.

My Christmas holiday resolution (yes that's a thing--I just made it up LOL) is to get BACK scrapping!! Doing my kids school pic albums, then ball, then SWW autograph books, and then....you get the picture. I'm a tad behind!! But I AM going to get going again!! Have fun!!!

From the title of your question, I was all set to click on in and type an immediate YES -I am a big fan of Memory Maker / photopass.

BUT. . . I had a big family group (12 people) and had 6 park days. For ONE day in MK, I think you might not need it and could still get plenty of good shots. I'm pretty sure the per-picture download price is $15, so you'd have to have 11ish pictures in the day to make it worthwhile. If you like to get ride photos and plan to ride Splash, Space Mountain, Buzz Lightyear and 7dwarfs, AND if you plan to do Enchanted Tales with Belle, you may rack up enough pictures to want to buy them all. Otherwise, I'd be willing to bet you could buy a la carte - and do as the PP suggested, letting photopass photographers take shots of you using your own camera (free) - and come out with plenty of pictures and spend a little less.

And yes! I'm glad I'm inspiring others to scrapbook! I love it. It keeps me from being a full blown hoarder. Also, it helps me relive the moments that make life magical

Yes, all the pictures the photo-pass photographers take are stored online.

No, you do not have to buy them at the park at the time. (with exceptions)

Exceptions - ride photos have to be bought at the park that day, unless you have the MM already. Once you buy the picture, you can then have it loaded to the photo-pass account and I believe that you can download that picture for free later (since you have already bought it).

No, you do not have to buy photo-pass to get everything stored online. But I think you are confusing terms. Photo-pass is the overall program where the photographers take your pictures and they are stored online with the option to purchase and download them later. You can prepay for Memory Maker (MM) and then your pictures are "already paid for" allowing you to download ride photos at the ride, as well as any and all pictures that are taken by the photo-pass photographers.

You will probably be better off buying the photos you like a la carte rather than paying for memory maker for one day.

Ride photos are actually now available online. You no longer have to purchase them in park.

Are you using a one day ticket? You can purchase a one day ticket with memory maker - the mm addon is 39 dollars for a single day memory maker. If they're still running it when you go that would be the thing to do.

No. That hasn't been true since November 3. All photos are available online for later purchase.

Personally, for one day...no. I do not think it is worth it for you. Unless you plan on leaving your camera back in the room.

If you take lots of pictures and will have your camera anyway, just have the photopass photographers (or the assisting CMs) take one with your camera after they use theirs.

You would miss out on Magic Shots and ride photos, but you could always purchase a ride photo if you fell in love with it. I think the value of photopass/memory maker really comes more into play on the longer trips when you know there are days you won't want to bring your camera.

For $170 you can have a very nice meal or two, and still get all the photos you want from your own camera.

This was actually pretty clear! Thanks to everyone who took time to respond. I am not going to do the Memory Maker, but instead look at the pictures online through photopass and buy them a la carte if I like any. I'll have my camera, so I can ask the photographers to use that as well. Now gotta figure out what photo package to do for the cruise. That's a whole other ball of wax!
