We leave in 31 days :)

How soon do I need to pre order photopass??

Will they mail me a cd with all my pics or do I download the pics onto my own cd??

Will I be able to print them at my own location or do I order prints from their website??

Is it worth it??

Anything else I need to know??

Thanks!!!!!:)

I'm not sure how soon you need to pre-order, but when you get back you put in the code from your photo pass card you got while in Disney to view all your pictures. You can then add on various frames and whatnot from the website. They will mail the CD (or CDs) to you. You have the rights so you can print wherever. Whether or not it is worth it is up to you. If you visit a lot of the photopass locations at the parks or plan to, it might be worth it. I believe if you are doing any character meals that they can add in the photos taken at the meal to your photopass card as well. I'm not exactly sure how that works, someone here may have more information about that. :goodvibes

Thank you! So is it a flat rate of $99(preorder)? Or do I have to pay to get the frames and such??

Will the cd come with the frames already on the pics??

Are there any extra costs to the photopass??

:))))

No extra charge for the frames. You will get a CD with the photos they took on it... if you have put a frame or other special thing on the picture and saved it then it will be on the disk. You don't get the frames to add on yourself later, at least you didn't when we did it so you need to make any enhancements you think you might want prior to getting your CD... also make sure you save the original photo without the enhancements because there will be no way to remove them.

It is always better to save more versions of a photo than you think you actually need.... also remember that saving them in different sizes can impact how the photo is cropped.

Also, realize that you aren't getting photo taken by Annie Leibovitz - you will have a hodge podge of photos... with luck many will be useable. But don't be surprised if some of them are down right bad.... We've had things cut off that shouldn't and if you are using the photo pass as your only record of the trip I would say think twice. When we do it we think of it as insurance in case our photo look like poop.... the thought being that at least we have two shots of getting a good shot... usually we get one good one from either them or us... just don't have unrealistic expectations. You'll find that a good number of the people taking photos don't try very hard to get a good one and a few will actually try to make sure they get a good one.

You have two options for cost... $99 if you order before your trip and $149 if you order after your first pictures are taken. If you pre-order, they put the 'credit' for the CD in your cart. You do nothing until you return from your trip.

During the trip, get your picture taken by PP photographers. If you don't already have one, they'll give you a card. You can add later photos onto the card by simply giving your existing card to a PP photographer. Or you can collect multiple cards (handy if you split up or if you leave your card in your room). One tip... take a picture (with your camera or cell phone) or write down the numbers on the back of the cards. Those numbers are what you need to claim your photos.

After your trip (within 30 days), you log back into the PP site and enter all your card numbers. All the pictures taken during your trip will show up in your 'bin'. You can now edit any/all of the pictures. The editing includes adding borders and/or graphics, and changing the sizes of the pictures. I believe the default is 4x6, but you can format it for 8x10. (IMO) It's always better to have a larger size because you won't lose quality making it smaller but you'll lose quality making a small picture larger. Just make sure you save COPIES of anything you change, don't over-save the original.

Within 30 of when you enter the first card, you'll actually order the CD (remember if you've pre-paid, there's a credit for the CD in your cart already). They'll take all the pictures, burn them on disks, and send them to you.

You can get prints from the PP site, but it would be MUCH cheaper to take the CD they send you and go to Wal*Mart, upload to Snapfish, whatever.

As far as whether it's worth it... to me, it comes down to how many pictures you'd be getting. Some people only end up with 25-50 pictures so the CD may not be worth it. We had ~150 (I think) taken during our 5 day trip and by the time we did all our edits, we were close to 300.

Another benefit to pre-ordering is they'll give you a refund if you're not happy with the pictures (bad pictures or not enough) before they ship the CD.

I hope this helps.

Hey Sam, since you seem to know the most about this, let me ask you this...We have 3 families going in October, a grand gathering set up, can we order 1 photopass, split the cost, and each work on the editing? Then when we get the CD we can make copies of it for each family or is the cd read only?

Thank you all! That was very helpful. Now I need to decide if we need it. Hmmmmmm
Don't forget if you pre-order and don't like the results, you can get a refund... so it's not even a "gamble" since you can get your money back.

Simple answer... yes. More complicated answer...One person/family will pay for it (since it needs to go on a single credit card). One CD (or set) will be sent out. Copying the pictures to other CD's should be easy for anyone with basic computer skills.

Great...Thank you!

I am trying to put my order in to preorder but it still says the price is 149.95. Where do you find the $99 deal?

Thanks for any info.

Check out http://www.stitchkingdom.com/disneysphotopass/ for a great rundown on how the system works.

The CD is just one of the purchase options available from the site. If you don't end up with enough pictures to make the pre-purchase worh it they should refund the price if you don't actually order it. Just ask them.

:love:We love the photopass cd.:goodvibes

Someone mentioned you can add your character meal pictures too. That is true but you need to purchase the photo first. On the picture there is a code which usually starts with EVNT that you would add to your photopass account.

What I really love about photopass is having all the extra special pictures taken ie Tinkerbell in your hand or cradling Simba in your arm. I can't get those with my regular camera.:lmao:

I got photo pass with the book for our first trip last month. The pictures were not great. There were a couple where they put a character into the picture, so that was unique. The lines to actually get a photo pass photographer were usually long, and I felt like every single time we would wait in line for a picture, all of the sudden they would cut the line off just ahead of us, and say that group was the "last one". It was downright frustrating to be completely honest. I wasted so much time standing in line for a picture, when I could have use snapped some myself, and been just as pleased. I didn't even bring my larger DSLR on the trip, but my pocket camera had quality that rivaled anything I saw on my photo pass account once I put the number in to access the pictures.

In addition, I have a Mac, and the controls on the website do not seem to work for resizing/cropping for the book. It has been an overall poor first experience for photo pass for me, but keep in mind that there are many people who really love it. I'm hoping I just had a bad experience, and it is usually better. I will say that it was nice to have the photographers on hand during character meals, and they come right to your table etc., so you get a few extra shots that you may not have gotten during the character table visits. Every other character meeting, my pictures were virtually the same as the photo pass ones.

.

:confused3 I have never seen a line more than a few people for the Photopass and they don't close the lines. Are you referring to meeting the characters because YES those do have lines and will close after a certain time and keep in mind not all character meet & greets have a photopass photographer there.
