Hello ladies...

Just me again with another question.

Have any of you used the disney photographer that comes with the escape package? Were they good, should we get an outside photographer, could i see some pictures if you have them?

TIA!:thumbsup2

We had Mike Strickland for our Escape Wedding in June. I was happy with the pictures. He was very accomodating. There are plenty of pictures in the first link in my siggie.

Oh, I'd also add that although many brides on here are uncomfortable with DPS, I personally think they've stepped up their game in recent months. The pics I've seen from Amy, Regina, Dean (Sam's e-pics), and Ty (we loved his work for our MK shoot, even though other brides have been unhappy) since about November onward have all been good.

Thanks heidi! Thats really good to know. I was reading on the boards that now disney won't let you substitue the disney photographer wedding pics for honeymoon pics and if you have a outside photographer they're now charging an escort fee. So i'm glad you were happy with our pictures. Did you find that they took lot of pictures for your escape wedding? Were they up for any kind of pictures you wanted? I love randy chapmans work but with the budget and the new escort fees i don't think we can do it. I just want to make sure that we get some really pretty pictures from disney!

Oh and how long did it take for you to get your pictures? I thought i saw in your escape journal that they were delivered the next day... really?!?!

I think that is really ridiculous that they won't let you substitute and are charging an escort fee. That's crazy.

But, I found Mike to be very easy going and willing to take any pictures we wanted. The whole thing lasted only about an hour, but I think there were over 200 pictures. I think the bummer about DPS for Escape weddings is that I think the package doesn't cover any reception you set up later or DP. So, I would talk to DFTW about that coverage, if you want it.

I would say that whether you hire an outside photographer or not, I think you should put together a very specific shot "list" of images and/or backgrounds you like. Certainly, the photographer (whomever you pick) will be creative, but there are shots I wish I had gotten that I just didn't think to ask about.

I also think you can peruse the photographers' work on the DPS site, so look at their styles and pick one you like.

And yes, we got our album and CD the next day. I'm not so sure that's normal though. I've heard that maybe they did that for us because we were considered "foreign" since we were coming from Germany, so there was a rush to save on postage. Maybe that was the deal.

With our MK Photos from January, it took about 10 business days before they were up on the internet to view. They were pretty quick.

I think its rediculouse too... :sad2:

I mean its your wedding and it only happens once and i just want to make sure we get the best pictures possible. I did ask about possibly have some pictures taken of either the lunch/dinner or DP we are thinking of having and i was told we could set something up with disney photopass. Again a good idea but photopass people are everywhere and i know they're hired to do photos but how am i to know if their any good?:confused3

What is the DPS website? I'm going to try googling it and see where that gets me! I think if i could see some work i'd feel better about it. :thumbsup2

As far as the timing even 10 buisness days is faster than anything i was quoted here if we had a home wedding! So that awesome. Oh and one more thing heidi... i know i'm a pain... if you wanted to purchase extras were they extremely expensive?

Thanks heidi you've been a big help!

I had the DPS new website but must have deleted it. If you contact Karen Chandler at Disney photography she might be able to give it to you. Her email is Karen.B.Chandler@disney.com and I think her phone number is 407-827-5029, hope that helps. By the way my daughter had Mike Strickland as well and her pictures are beautiful!!!!!!

Yeah, that's weird! If you're willing to pay, I wonder why you couldn't have the same photographer for the whole event. I'd dig deeper on that.

What is the DPS website?

http://www.disneyeventphotography.com/

Click on "Wishes Weddings" then look at the photographer's name by the pics and click "view more."

You're not a pain! But, I really don't know the answer to this. Since we bought the CD, I didn't order any extras with them. Maybe someone else on here knows...

Unfortunately, yes, reprints are extremely expensive, if you consider how cheaply you can get them from professional photo printing services like www.mpix.com.

Here are Disney's reprint prices:

4x5 $12
4x6 $13
5x7 $20
8x10 $30
11x14 $55
16x20 $85
20x24 $115
30x40 $250
8 wallets $15
16 wallets* $24
24 wallets* $31

*same image

However, as an Escape bride, you have the choice to buy all your images on disc for $395 if you give up the album and prints that come with the Escape package. This would allow you to have reprints made wherever you want! :thumbsup2

Back in the day, it was $90, but they haven't been enforcing it for years now. I guess I shouldn't be surprised that it's reappeared now that their business is down.

Thanks again for the help ladies!:grouphug:

I'll know to ask for the CD instead of getting reprints!

From what i've read i think it is going to start being enforced. Since they aren't allowing you to substitute the disney photographer for the ceremony for like a honeymoon shoot i'm guessing they're trying to keep everything within disney to keep the buisness.

I'm definatly going to check out the website... thanks heidi!:thumbsup2

Do you girls know if its possible to bring an outside photographer to an inpark wedding and just pay some sort of escort fee?

If we paid for a disney photographer so disney wasn't losing money could we then bring an outside photographer in?

Well, the official reason they are no longer allowing outside photographers is not that they are losing money - it's that they want to control the images of Disney icons like the castle, etc.

This of course is ridiculous because millions of tourists take snapshots of the icons inside Disney parks every year. But if this is how they justify it, then no amount of money is going to change their minds. Then again... in this economy.... :rotfl:

boo. thanks Carrie. I really don't want to pay more to disney -we are prolly over budget with everything as is. Just if we did decide to opt with the MK park ceremony package I thought maybe they would just let us bring a photographer along, since DPS is already included. sigh.

Disney goes out of their way to find talent - there are so many talented people there. Why aren't they going out of their way to have amazing wedding photographers???
