Just wondering how much Disney pays castmembers... A friend's daughter (only 17) is going to work at Disney this summer and thinks she is going to become rich.... She aspires to be in the shows, but at 17 she can only be a costumed character and "other things" which sounds very vague. She is going alone, from PA to FL for at least 8 weeks this summer, and I am worried about her!:sad2:

I applied for a college intern program and was accepted but ended up not going as I would have had to prolong my college career an extra semester and was not ready to do that. They were only offering in the area of min. wage. I don't know what program she might be doing, but with mine they gave you about 40 hrs per week and then I would have been living on the property in special apartments they have set up for interns. They made you pay rent for these at something like $70 per week which sucked up a lot of your earnings. All in all, she may get rich in the sense of fun and magic she will experience and bestow upon the lives of others, but in a monetary sense I don't see it happening...lol...I'm sure she will have fun nonetheless.
Also, has she been cleared to do an exciting job like costume character???? The pay is the same but it is more of a big deal as usually people who go there to work end up doing something like food services or park greeter. Hopefully she get the position she is anticipating...

She seems very vague about what she will be doing (and for some reason her parents aren't freaking out about it!). She keeps saying she will "get to do everything", but her mom keeps saying character and shows. 17!:confused3

I hope she is not disappointed....as I am not sure how familiar she is with the program and such. Every employee of WDW is called a Cast Member, whether they are serving food or greeting guests or playing a character, so hopefully she doesnt associate the term cast member strictly with playing a princess or something like that. Also, if she has not already done auditions for the part of a character, I am not sure if this will be her position. Maybe I'm wrong and they will take care of all of that once she gets there, but that is usually a much more prolonged process, as opposed to being a greeter at the park entrance. Let me know if you get anymore details, or keep us posted once she actually goes down there to start....good luck to her :)
