Disney Parks Moms Panel 2015

1) I did a greeting but not a closing.
2) I was both general about some and specific on others, I guess. My answer was pretty short I think.

You know I barely thought about my R1 application. I hope I didn't overthink R2.

I guessed Nov 10th, too, but then talked myself out of it when I saw everyone else saying the 17th & 19th!

And I'm pretty irked that a couple of people decided their feelings are more important than anyone else's. But that's a separate post, if I decide to comment more on it at all.

But I really wanted to weigh in on your questions about the questions. :) Here's what I did...

1. I did add a greeting and name at the top of the two sample R2 Q's. (Didn't see R1 Q's because I had the MP FP+.) I also had a closing at the end, but did not sign my name. And now that you mention it, I suppose I probably should have, if it's supposed to be just like an actual Q to the site. Rats. (Guess I can use that as my excuse if I don't advance!)

2. I named four specific sources: Disney Parks blog, Disney Moms Panel page, and two third-party websites. Not room for much more when you name sources and why you use them.

So...there you have it! :)

Thank you, both, for your feedback. I was just curious what others did there. Kathy, I would totally not sweat the name thing. I just want to make sure I didn't look like an idiot by actually doing that, LOL. After all, I had to give up one of my precious words to do so! I also listed the Disney Parks Blog and Disney Parks Moms Panel as two of my sources. I would say that 'great minds think alike', but I'm sure at least 75% of us listed those. :goodvibes

In regards to the questions, I did add a greeting on the sample questions and did add a closing, like, "Have a magical trip" or something to the like. I did not put my name at the end. I was sort of kicking myself for a few minutes over that one. It never dawned on me to do so until after I had submitted it. Then I felt better after I found a few instances in actual Moms Panel responses where the Panelist did not put her name at the end. I hope, again, consistency weighs more than doing it or not doing it.

As far as the sources question goes, I put some specific sources and some general sources. I did not put the Moms Panel page down because I second-guessed myself on that one. I thought, if we have the expertise to get on the Panel, then why would we need the Panel for help? I'm sure I overthought that one way too much.

Thank you, both, for your feedback. I was just curious what others did there. Kathy, I would totally not sweat the name thing. Thanks for the encouragement. It just never even occurred to me to sign my name. Next time, though...

Yeah, the DP blog and MP site seemed an obvious choice! :)

Just a few days away now!

For my sample questions I did use a greeting, a closing, and my name. I don't think after so many years of Catholic school that I could answer the question without those things. It would feel incomplete, and I don't think my teachers would approve.:hyper: It would have actually made me anxious to leave it without those things, not because I think the search committee would be unhappy, but because if Mrs. Lasko, or Professor Cronin saw me leave it that way they would be displeased.

Funny side story about Professor Cronin. He was my freshman English teacher at Notre Dame in fall 1994. He was older than dirt, and not particularly politically correct. Twenty five years after coeducation, he was still unsure about women's usefulness in the classroom! After describing him to my dad, we made the realization that Professor Cronin had also been my dad's teacher for freshman English in the fall of 1966. I mentioned this to Professor Cronin during a meeting we had to discuss my paper (all students had to review every paper with him). He wheeled his chair around, and on the bookshelf behind him were rows of small blue books. And of course, he pulled 66'/67' off the shelf. I was pleased to learn that my grades were better than my dad's! How crazy is that! Anyway, Professor Cronin is gone now, but I still don't think he would like it if he found out I didn't have those parts to my answer!

On the sample MP questions, I used a greeting and a close - but I didn't sign my name. But now I know to not overlook that part for next year - if I make it that far.

I mentioned specific websites, blogs, Facebook pages, and people/things I follow on Twitter for the question asking about where we get our WDW news.

I am WDW specialty. I forgot to mention that a few pages back when I posted that I made it to the second round. :thumbsup2

Someone on the Facebook page posted a "Debbie downer" picture in regards to this and it made me laugh out loud... Just what popped to my mind when I read those tweets from Gary! I'm sure the people who emailed him just "snapped" under the pressure and didn't think about how it would effect Gary or the rest of us who enjoyed the clues. Stress makes some people do weird things, like apparently self-sabotage in this case. I am enjoying following the excitement, cheering all of us on, because after this is all over I still get to go to Disney World ;)

I'm just catching up on this thread and I was the one with the snl Debbie downer picture :)

I'm a R2er for WDW

I think I forgot to mention, my specialty is also WDW.

For my "news about WDW" question, I didn't mention all the FB and Twitter accounts I follow because it would have taken up all my words.. lol. I just said I follow numerous "official" Disney pages and usernames, and then I listed DisneyParks.ca, Disney.com, D23.com, WDWNews.com and the Disney Parks Blog. I also mentioned the monthly newsletter emails I receive via my D23 and My Disney Experience accounts. I didn't actually mention the Disney Parks Moms Panel because it specified "news".

I'm sure it REALLY doesn't matter about the name, I was just curious if anyone else did it. I would imagine they cover those kinds of formalities in training and it would not be expected for purposes of the application.

Too funny about your professor and dad!

Please add me to the Disneyland Resort Round 2 list, and thank you, palmtreelover, for maintaining the list! I made it to Round 2 last year, and my journey ended there.

I've been reading the posts here and am loving all the great personalities.

Regarding the sample answers, I did include a very brief greeting and closing but also understand having chosen not to in this case to fit more substance into your answers.

Good luck to all! I can't wait 'til Tuesday to hear that many are moving to the next Round.

Yay, we've got a second person to add to DLR!

I was looking at the names on the specialty listings and there are so few of DVC, DCL and DLR. Yes, I know there are many that don't participate on this thread, but I can't imagine that there are more than 3-4 times more in R2 than what's listed below (maybe more for DLR, though).

Anyhow, while those specialties probably have the same odds of making it on the panel as the WDW specialty (because less will get chosen), I think you all have great odds of going onto the next Round(s)!

Tuesday can't get here soon enough! Have a good weekend!

FWIW, I have a DVC list going and I have 19 names. One or two might be doubled up (Not matching always being able to match screen names to real names). So I would make a guesstimate that there are probably 30 or so? I am also guessing they will only take one new panelist from that. Its possible they could take two, but my instinct tells me one.

Odds are hard to tell. I would think once in R2 it is pretty similar among all the specialties.

I did add a greeting and sign my name, but I remember someone asking Gary about it on Twitter and he assured them it was fine either way. :)

Agreed. I know there are lots of wonderful DLR Panel hopefuls on Twitter. Thanks for adding me to the list here.
I have around 20 DCL from a Facebook group. I don't think that's everyone either as I haven't cross referenced. I think that covers all four listed here, though.
