Disney Parks Frozen Christmas Celebration Taping Dates

We happened to be there for the 2010 and 2012 parade tapings and didn't feel it affected our touring. We had no desire to watch it - a lot of it is the floats just stationary for quite a while - we got food from the bakery and the whole time we were in line/eating the "parade" never moved. Main Street was packed. But as far as lines for rides, they were all pretty short.

This is actually a relief for me. We picked the first weekend of December because that's the only weekend the family could coordinate. I was worried we would see a higher then usually volume at the parks.

We have done the parade portion of the taping for a couple of years now. Additional tickets are given to CM (they can bring in 5 extra people) to be the audience of the parade, they get to come into the park as early as 5:30am. Some regular guest come for the taping but most don't stay for long. As pp mentioned the parade starts taping around 9am and doesn't finish until around 3 to 4pm.
After the parade taping is done most people who got tickets thru CM stay to enjoy a free day at MK. So it gets really crazy after 3pm

:worried:
The 9th is our MVMCP night. Should be interesting trying to get party goers into the park, while trying to get all the people on Main Street out. Doesn't sound like a good scenario.

I think they used to do it Saturday because of Regis & Kelly. Their show typically tapes ahead for Friday but was live on Monday so Friday was a travel day and they would be back at work on Monday.

I think it will be less crowded on a weekday. I've been there that day 2 or 3 times, the rest of the park was not bad.

So based on this the consensus would be it would be a pretty bad idea to hop over to MK on the night of the 8th? I noticed it's open late and we finish up at HS early and thought we'd hop over to MK. Sounds like it's going to be crazy crowded? I'm talking late, like after 8:00

I just realized the date change means we won't be able to see the MK tree! Our last park day is 12/9 (attending MVMCP). We were hoping they would have the tree up by then, but now.... :(

I loved seeing it up and having it in my pictures last year. We will be able to see it later in the week, but it won't be at our party I guess. I'm sorry, I know it's not a huge deal but I can understand that would be a disappointment for you.

removed...posted under separate thread, since I didn't want to hijack this one!

So, how do you get into the shops on Main Street when they are taping the parade? Do they have the area closest to the doorways roped off so we can still walk down the sidewalk?

Do you think they will put the tree up overnight on the 9th so it will be up on the 10th? Our party night is the 11th, so I'm hoping it is up by then! This is our 1st visit with Christmas decor! I wanna see it all!

The first store entrance on both sides faces Town Square so you can go through that door and walk all the way through.

I think they would have some sidewalk space open in case of an emergency but they may not let you walk through.

They also open the gate next to Tony's Town Square Restaurant so you can walk behind the stores, it comes out by the Plaza Restaurant restrooms.

Not sure what to make of that, since my MK days are the 7th and the 9th. I guess I'll see!

So what does that even mean? Are they dragging the whole shebang out over four days now ?:confused3

We have an 8:05 adr the morning of the 7th. We will still get to walk down a somewhat-empty Main Street or will it be blocked like the mornings of the parade filming? :(

It won't be empty. MK is now opening at 8:00 AM for all of December.

Just when I think I have everything planned and in place...all this parade taping shows up. I purposely booked our trip for the 6-10 to avoid the taping and now it's all over our schedule. It just kind of makes me angry that they wait this late to announce the schedule.

It really does mess things up for us too, since we are only there 3 days this trip and I really tried hard to plan it out so we had an MK night ...there's a party the night before and the night after. After all the FP+ planning and back and forth date planning using crowd planners and forum comments to try and pick one of the more manageable weeks, we're now stuck - too late to change dates. Plus, I honestly don't have the energy...I'm exhausted. We'll just deal with whatever crowds we get that night. I'm grateful for our 3 FP+ rides...those may be our only ones. :)
