We are going on our first cruise in August :cool1: We are going to Disney for three days after the end of our cruise. Trying to decide if we should buy a two or three day pass. Was wondering if there is time to go to a park on the day you get off the cruise?

They kick you off the ship pretty early - 8:30ish and it is about an hour or a little more drive from the port, so i would get three day passes. There would be plenty of time to visit the parks. We have gone and spent time at Downtown Disney after a cruise before our flight later in the afternoon.

Enjoy!

You can disembark as early as 7:30am typically, specially if you handle your own luggage. After customs, you could be on the DCL bus by 8am, hotel by 9am and in a park by 9:30.

Faster if you drive yourself as you can be the first one out.

Even if you are a late riser, you need to be out of the staterooms by 8am, and off the ship by 9:30am. So I would say the latest you could be on a park would be 11am.

I would get a 2 day pass and add an extra day (before the end of the 2nd day) if you need it. You should be able to be in the parks by 11.

Pretty much hits the nail on the head..

We just disembarked from the the Fantasy last week, approximately 7:30. We parked at the Port (used a porter for our bags & to clear Customs). We were on the road a little before 8:00. We were unloading our bags at BWV before 9:30 (we invested in a Sun Pass transponder, so we don't even stop for tolls, there was some traffic on I-4) we had "on line check in", so no problem there; bottom line we walked into EPCOT by 9:45.

So should you get a 2 or a 3 day pass? Clearly it's really up to you. But we always get park admission for the day we disembark. But that's just what we've done after our Disney cruises.

Last summer, we were off the Dream by 8:00 and on the road. The kids promptly fell back asleep. We woke them up an hour later and told them we were taking bathroom breaks. It took a couple minutes (and one monorail passing by) for them to realize we were at the TTC. Surprise!! They were wide awake after that and ready for some commando touring the rest of the day.

In October we did another Dream cruise but planned on going to the parks for a couple days afterwards. We went to Hollywood Studios that morning. We even saw a family from our cruise there.

We left the ship at 9am and were held up in the line to get through customs (they actually stopped disembarkation for 10 minutes as the terminal was too full) By the time we got out to our town car, it was 9:30am.

We went back to the our hotel, checked in, grabbed some coffee and walked to DTD for a pin that was released that day. We walked back to the hotel and caught the bus headed to the parks. We were at MK by midday

We got off pretty late (8:30), took dcl transfer to the resort, checked in, went to room, settled in, grabbed bus & made it to disney studios just in time for my 11:30 fp. The parks were open until 11 pm, so we still had a full day to play!

We have also done the early walk off with our own luggage and always make it to the parks just after opening. I would get the three day if you are ready to go straight to the parks after you disembark.

I would definitely skip the parks the day you get off. I remember being woken up at 7 AM by the announcement tone and we were so tired by the time we checked into our Disney resort that we all passed out for 3 hours. Rest and unpack and then go to the parks the next day.

I forgot to add that we went to Downtown Disney around 6 PM that night and went to dinner and walked around. That was nice.

We were of the ship, Magic, used DCL transportation, checked into Coronado Springs, dropped items in room, and were in line for Anna and Elsa at EPCOT by 10:40 AM. This was back in January and we didn't carry our own luggage off. We were able to grab it and used a porter to get through customs.

Kids were up and ready to go and we didn't leave EPCOT until they closed that night.

I have got to:-
Seaworld 8.50 am.
Polynesian resort. 9am.
Beach club 8.50 am.
Downtown Disney 8.30 am

All from a cruise.

WOW....you have way more energy than I do....:thumbsup2:thumbsup2..wish I could pull this off

I think it may depend on how many days on the ship. I was so totally exhausted after a 7 day, that I would want to hang at the pool and maybe shop and have a nice dinner. If you have young kids they may need an afternoon nap. If you are typically a run all day kind of person then go for it! We are going on a 4 day in early Aug and the park tickets were about the same price for 3 days or 5 days on Mousesavers so we got 5 days. No big deal if we only go for part of the day, but if you are paying full price and you are exhausted, it will be no fun and it will be hot!

:thumbsup2 Yes there is....... go for 3 days.....we did it this past May 9th....off the Magic by 945am......checked in at our Resort and to the parks by 210pm till 1220am. :thumbsup2 Have Fun :thumbsup2

I wonder what I would do in your situation.... it's so tempting to run off the boat and to the parks! But the more "relaxing" option would be to take a non-park day the first day. Check in to resort. Use pool. Downtown Disney. Maybe a character meal. Watch fireworks from outside the park - maybe Poly Beach. Ride the monorail and some boats. Or go over to AK and see the animals, FW and see the horses, go to a Luau, go to a campfire and make s'mores, etc etc. Then, the next day, ROPE DROP!
Let us know what you decide!
You can't go wrong!:thumbsup2
