Disney Paradise Pier Hotel~ Pro/Cons??

$500 per night?! I thought you meant $500 total difference for your stay. What kind of rooms are you looking at? I know the DLH has gotten expensive, but even when I've been checking the rates sometimes I haven't been seeing higher than $400 something per night for the DLH (which frankly I won't pay, but nor would I pay the current going rate for PP).

No worries TwingleMum. We all knew something was amiss.

Most of us here would love to stay at the GCH, the DLH or the PPH. (or the Hojo, Fairfield, BW at the crosswalk or the CCI). At various price points we'd fall one way or the other.

I think i'm going to start a thread on this very topic. Price points on popular diggs at DLR.

I hope you recover soon & have a great time at Walt's park (no matter which hotel you stay at).

Ah. Get better soon. When you do go to Disney, enjoy your stay at PP. Now that I see you've tried the other Disney hotels already, I agree that you may as well round it out and try the last. That $500 is sure to come in handy for other things during your stay. Then for future visits, you can stay again at whichever hotel is your personal favorite, or you can venture out to Harbor and stay at one of the non-Disney owned places. There are some good ones out there too.

I stayed at PPH for the first time last month. I have to admit I was totally disappointed in it. There is absolutely no comparison between PPH and DLH, but cost is certainly a big consideration. If you can save $500, that does influence the decision in favor of PPH! However, are you sure that you can't get a better price than that? I've rarely paid more than a little bit extra for DLH over PPH. This last trip, I did save $150 over 3 nights staying at PPH instead of DLH because the standard rooms at DLH were gone, but quite honestly, I wish I had paid the $150 more for DLH. I find it very hard to believe that the cost difference is that high unless you are comparing different levels of rooms--like PPH standard to DLH premium. Is this a package deal?

No package. For 5 days PPH Standard is 1495. DLH standard is 1970.

Yep, this is the trend I've noticed since the DLH refurb. The DLH price and PPH price are not as close as they used to be. This is just the current price though, and Disney does have a tendency to offer specials 2-3 months out from booking, so it may be that when those specials come out that this DLH/PP price gap narrows a bit. BTW, I don't even know why I keep looking...we're unlikely to pay the prices that the resort hotels have risen to. I guess I keep watching and wishing though. We have always been quite happy with our other choices of Hojos and Candy Cane Inn though and then we have lots of "saved" money to spend on food and junk...er...souvenirs.

PPH has a boardwalk feel to it. GCV has an animal kingdom feel and DLH I'm staying at for the first time on Feb 29th. Then we are going to try the PPH theme park view for two nights. I think that view makes it worth it. When are you going?? Maybe there will be better pricing.

This is the current trend, we really wanted to stay at GCH for our upcoming March trip, but the rate is nearly double that of PPH, which of course $300 or so more than the local choices, such as Fairfield, CCI or Hojo's.

Our current dates list $1,145, $1,600, $1,955 for the PPH, DLH, and GCH before tax.

Oh no! That's too bad. It isn't worth that much more post-refurb!! I'd rather have the old DLH at the old rates. I will spend more to stay onsite over the Harbor hotels, but I'm getting a little tired of the constant price increases with all things Disney.

I prefer the pool area at the PPH because of the water slide. I have not stayed at the DLH though, so I cannot say whether or not the rooms are better. We wanted to stay there the last 2 trips, but couldn't afford it, so we stuck with the PPH. My kids are used to it, and love it anyway.
