Disney online shopping question?

I'm frustrated with trying to order something from Disney, and wondering if anyone has experience with them that can kind explain this to me.

I ordered a Mickey duvet set. On the website it says it's in stock & when it's in my cart it says it's in stock. I finalized the order, and later the order status showed not shipped. The only explanation I get is an email telling me that the item "was not available at the time your order was filled". No explanation, no further info on if it WILL become available, just that I wasn't billed for it & it wasn't available at that moment.

Any ideas on how to find out more info? I've tried emailing them, and they just email me back with the same cookie-cutter response.

That has happened to me before with a pin I ordered. Everything said in stock then at the last minute I got the same information - not in stock, not b illed. I called the customer service line and they gave me a BS answer. They said from the time it took me to click submit and the order was sent to fulfillment it had sold out! So, why did I still see it asin stock on the website days after I made this call? Who knows! I wish they would let you know the item is sold out immediately.
 
I'm glad I'm not alone. It's even more frustrating because just before Christmas I found this item & it was in stock in every size EXCEPT King! So I was excited when it said it was instock in King now.

Disney Shopping has been really messed up the past few months. I know lots of DISers (including myself) have had issues.

I've had this happen on other sites as well. DH (a computer guru) says it's because the software doesn't check stock at the time you select the item, it checks when you complete the order (ie. when you enter your charge information and the order is accepted.)

I don't know how often the individual item's web page and reference to "item in stock" are updated, but on a day with a lot of web traffic (like a sale) it's likely the item page will indicate it's in stock, but by the time you place the order they're all gone.

Thank you! I will try calling them. Can you place your order through this number, so if they say it's in stock I can confirm my order right away?

Thanks for the info! The problem is that I originally ordered on Sunday & the item wasn't shipped. I went back in today & it still says it's "in stock" so I tried to order it again. It almost immediately rejected the order. So I think they have a glitch in their inventory tracking.

I am thinking about ordering 2 small ones & sewing them together. What a PITA though!

I agree, totally frustrating!

Last year (through an Amazon vendor) I ordered two items, birthday gifts for my DS2 and his best buddy. The same thing happened, the order went through, then I got an email notifying me they were out of stock. I went back online, and it STILL listed them as available, which really ticked me off! Even weeks later it was still listed. :mad:
