Has anyone been to Disney on New Years' Eve? Wondering if it is worth the point value. Made a reservation for 12/27 -1/2/08. Barely able to get a two bedroom (dedicated) also looking for a studio to add on some more family members. What do you think the chances would be if I changed to the SSR after the time limit is up to reserve non home resorts?. I have res in DBC. Just wondering. Any thoughts on the subjet would be helpful.

Thanks

I imagine that new years will be very popular at SSR given that it is near DTD and pleasure island

We have been to WDW on NYE lots of times and it is really fun...were there for the millinium!!!! It was great!!! Sometimes it gets cold......we live in NJ and the weather was warmer in NJ than in FL....Go figure.

Have a GREAT time!!! It is really busy, but as long as you have the right attitude you will enjoy it.

We go almost every New Years, but wait until the Sat or Sun before to save points. It is a blast but of course the weather is up for grabs. They give out horns and hats in the parks and have great fireworks, bands playing all over Epcot.

IS BCV out of studios? You may be able to rent one or get one at nearby BWV. Personally with the crowds at the holidays, I would stay at the Epcot resorts as the buses will be jammed. Also get on the wait list as I'm sure there will be a few changes this far out.

The dates you have picked are the busiest days of the year.
We go over that time frame every year and the crowds start to build on 12/22 and will get busier everyday thru 12/31.
You will need to plan on getting up early if you want to go on the rides. the crowds should drop off after 1/1.
Please ask more question?? Great time of the year to go but be prepared for people grid lock during your visit, and make ADR's very early or you will get closed out.

We love NYE at Disney, and especially like to be in Epcot for NYE. That being said, we try to keep our stress level down and our point cost as well by booking NYE as our first night, and then have the rest of the trip ahead of us when the crowds aren't QUITE as crazy. There will still be a lot of people around, but not as bad as the week previous to NY.

We were first there for the Millennium celebration NYE 1999/2000, and I have never been in a crowd that huge ANYWHERE EVER!

yeah but what a night

You know it! When it was time to leave, we had our group of 7 hold belt loops, and we snaked our way through the crowd and to the bus easily. We only waited about 5 minutes for a bus too.

Have been to Disney for 3 NYEs. This past one 2006 I was able to get reservations at SSR less than 5 months out for NYE. I originally had 2 BR reserved and then when it was down to just 2 of us waitlisted for any 1BR or studio at any resort for NYE, 1/1-1/4. They came through within the last couple of weeks before we left for the trip on Christmas Eve. If you want to try to change I would do it at the 7 month point exactly and I think you stand a good chance. That way you should have enough points for both rooms with what you save by changing resorts. Good luck, that is a great time to be at Disney as long as you understand the size of the crowds. I can't find my picture taken as we walked from the circle in front of the castle towards the train station the first time we were there for NYE. It shows the shoulder to shoulder back to belly crowd. We had a wonderful time - all three times

We were at Epcot for NYE 1999/2000, too. It was amazing. I've never seen that many people there on NYE. We were staying at the Grand Floridian that year and DMom's knee gave out. She couldn't walk at all. We finally got a wheelchair (long story), and when we left Epcot, we were taken up the elevator to the monrail. I didn't even know they had an elevator there.

But there's no place like Disney for NYE.
