We just returned from a showing of Disney on Ice. I'm telling you, for the amount of money I spent this afternoon, I think I could have done a day in the Magic Kingdom cheaper.

Disney Popcorn bucket: $15
Tinkerbell Snowcone: $15
Light up Tiara: $15
Program: $15
Ticket itself: $40 a piece

I choked a little bit every time my card was swiped. I compromised with the $15 Tiara, the other choices they had were light up wands or fairy wings that were $25 a piece.

I love Disney, but they certainly have a racket going here. I can't imagine what it was like for the people I saw there with multiple children. I'm afraid they might be pricing the "average family of 4" out of the market with their special events. Mickey's Magic Show is coming in January, but after as much as this was, I think we will skip that.

The only way we are able to go is to buy the cheapest tickets with a coupon, last time we ended up with $5 tickets (for the 3 of us). We eat before we go and DS7 knows he isn't getting a toy and can pick one snack. He picked the snow cone and surprisingly enough it was only $10 this year, down from $15 the past few! We all had a great time and enjoyed a lovely day for pretty cheap as a family.

When we go to events like this, we don't do all the extras. My kids don't even ask for any of the extra stuff. We will usually buy a soda or a snack of some sort, but the venue's 'regular' stuff, not the specials. Still, it's over the top...

We went once with first night $10 per person regular seat tickets (I only bought 4 since Dh was working), no program and no food (TG I fed them at Wendys right before).

Never again, ditto on I would rather save the money on DVD or a day at the park than buy all the stuff there. OUCH!

I took my dd to Mickey's Rockin' Road Show when it was here and they do make their money.

The tickets are really something. I looked at Disney On Ice tickets and I found myself shaking my head at how much they want despite how much I just dropped on our upcoming vacation.

As far as the souvenirs, Sesame Street Live which we did when she was younger was the same though, as was the Backyardigans show we went to 2 years ago. I do let her pick one toy when we go to these things, I just tell her, don't let it be something I can get at Wal-Mart.

At the Sesame Street live show we went to 4 years ago, a lot of children had these huge Elmo balloons. Dd was begging and when I asked, I couldn't believe how much they wanted for it. It was a simple mylar balloon like you get from anywhere. $15 or $16 dollars. I can usually do dd's birthday bouquet (one huge balloon and several small ones) for about $20. Don't want to think about what they might want for that balloon now. I dropped $25 on her one toy that night, but got her a 25th Anniversary stuffed Elmo. Big fluffy one with the 25th anniversary stamp sewn into his foot. That balloon would have been trashed in 2 days. Elmo is still around after 4 years.

Maybe it's because I have so many kids, but there is no way I'm buying food and drinks at these things. I'll bring in water bottles, and save the $5 for each one. The kids know they will not be getting popcorn or snowcones. With discount seats for about $19, it's not a bad deal!

We do the cheaper seats as well (didn't know there was a discount also, I'll have to do that this year), and actually end up with pretty decent seats. It usually costs us around $80 for our family of 4 for tickets. We've always been able to see perfect and really weren't all that far from the front, maybe 10-15 rows back. I do buy the tickets early though. We also stop at a fast food place before hand, so no need for any food while there. We bring along our own lighted toys and my kids never even ask for the stuff at the vendors. IF we get anything it's a bag of popcorn or something we can all share (the one without the junky toy attached, usually from the regular food venders, not the disney ones). The disney stuff IS expensive and really not worth it, so we just don't buy it. I dont think the price to see the show itself is all that bad, no worse than any other kid show we go to see.

For the Celebrate! Show, we got our tickets and some snacks to share and that was it.

We are going again this year to see Toy Story 3.

The local Children's Museum offers discount tickets to the members that are $4 the listed price. Our tickets haven't cost more than $18 each.

We went last week and it was a last minute thing, so we were buying our tickets at the box office. When our credit card was swiped, the tickets didn't print, but the computer showed that they had, so it took them 30-45 minutes to get that all straight. Then, they refunded our money!!

So, it didn't hurt so bad when the kids asked for souvenirs! DS got a um, rather interesting looking Buzz lightyear spinner for $20, and a Bullseye which I think was arond $10. The kids asked for snowcones, which came in "ice steins"- Green Alien, Jessie, and Buzz Lightyear. DH was shocked that it came to $35! ($10, $10, and $15).

And even if we had paid full price, it was totally worth it. I don't think my 2 year old has EVER sat still that long!!!!

When I got Sesame Street Live tickets for free we brought our own water in and snacks. I did purchase one slushie drink for us to share.

My nieces didn't ask for anything. If my sister was there then they most likely would have asked for all kinds of things.

Wow! You guys hwo brought in your own stuff were so lucky. They set up tables outside of the arena before we went inside and confiscated all food and drinks. All bottled water and candy was thrown away right in front of you, and if you brought a reusable water bottle they took it from you and held it until after the show. The only things they allowed in were formula and jarred baby food. If you had a purse or backpack they were completely searched! I kind of felt violated, it was like going through airport security.

I checked with the venue beforehand, and they had nothing against bringing in food or non-alcoholic beverages, so I packed popcorn, grapes, water and a couple juice boxes. The kids did ask for a purchase one toy each, but boy were those suckers expensive! The tickets were super cheap as we went with our Cub Scout troop, but the toys were almost $40 for two.

We have gone to Disney On Ice every year since my 11 yo was 4! We have lived in two cities in that time and always use Mousesavers codes(on that page) to get tickets for about $10 a piece. We buy the nosebleed section but have always been able to see everything and many years were even able to move closer(they have never been full when we've gone).
We are able to take in bottled water and nothing else. So I take those and buy 1 bucket of popcorn and 1 bag of cotton candy and we share amongst our family of 5.
In total, including the ticketmaster charges, we spend less than $100. It is pricey but it's a tradition for us each year. The kids know there will be no souvenirs!

When we go we buy the tickets on sale and don't sit up front (not the top either). We also eat before going and pack juice boxes and a small snack for DD. She has been to Disney on Ice, other disney shows, and sesame street live many times and knows that she get to pick one souviner, it can be a toy, a light up thing, a program, or a snowcone in one of the cool cups. If you get the tickets on sale (usually opening night is cheaper, and not sitting on the floor) and limit the extras it's still expensive when you factor in parking charges and tolls (at least for us) it's reasonable for a fun and special night out.

We only go when we can get the $10-$11 lower level seats. Kids eat before we go and we bring in juice boxes and snacks. I also bring our own glow sticks.

No way! Were you at the 1:00 show or the 5:00 one? We were there at 1. It was a great show, my daughter loved the Valentines Day portion, but my favorite was the Halloween. We were in section 120 along the aisle in the 2 seaters.

We were at the 1 o'clock show too! in section 119, two in from the isle, in the first row off the floor.

I just downloaded the pics I took at the show.... photography isn't one of my strengths ;

DD in our seats... it was a good location, one row up would have made it easier for her to see.

DD loved the whole thing but says the Halloween part was her favorite, with the valentines a close second.
