We love Disney on Ice. We have been to several of the shows. It is a good Disney fix between trips.
Tips.. I read a few about bringing in cameras.... Definitely bring your camera. Be aware they move fast, so it can be hard to get good pictures.
but do you get to meet with the characters at all? Maybe to take pictures..
No character meet and greets. There was a princess one once where before the show, there was an area where a princess would step out and wave, but she stayed on a little stage behind a rope. There are areas at each show where they have either cardboard cut-outs or statues of characters, and you can pay a ridiculous amount of money to have your picture taken with that. DD always wants to do that and it drives me crazy.
Tips on the souvenirs? Bring Money. There are a ton. They have things you can not get anywhere else (i.e. we have a Peter Pan Barbie type plastic doll from one that is a huge hit at our house). It can be hard to make a choice. We always spend way too much! Also, the cotton candy is around $10 because it usually comes with some type of hat- which can be hard if you have more than one kid with you. The snow cones are expensive because they come in character cups you can keep (note they are not the greatest cups because they have flapping lids not secure ones that you can put a straw through). Also if you plan on snow cones, bring paper towels or wipes in your purse. They put big overflowing balls on the top of them, and that is the only way they can do them, because I have asked if they could fill them less. We always have pieces falling all over everywhere when DD tries to eat it. They are a mess.
Any other tips other than watching the show.. might bring the kids ear plugs read one post about someone getting better seats because it was too loud..
We've never found it to be too loud, and we have sat in the front couple of rows before. It probably depends on the arena and whether your ticket winds up right next to a speaker. If you are on the front couple of rows, you might want to bring a light sweater. I haven't needed it, but we usually bring my Mom too because she loves ice skating and she always complains it is freezing.
