Disney on Ice budget question. . .

A while back, I posted about my best friend. Me and my kids are going to WDW in February and my best friend shares this obsession with me. Her family joined our family on the last trip we took(her only trip to date). In the meantime, her husband has passed away in April and finances are a nightmare for her (they haven't been good since her DH was diagnosed with cancer and out of work for four years ). I paid for part of her trip to WDW because I figured it may be the trip of a lifetime for them. I know she is feeling depressed for so many reasons and I wanted to do something special for her for Christmas. There is no way I can afford to take them to WDW so I bought her 4 tickets to see Disney on Ice ~ Beauty and the Beast. This is her favorite movie and I know she will love the show. She can take her 3 DDs. This is 2 days before I leave for Florida and 1 day before Feb school vacation. I am a little worried about the show being on a Thurs night when there is school Friday but it is the last school day before vacation so I figure it will be one of those 'not doing much' days. Anway for the budget question . . . I want to give her the tickets for Christmas and I would like to give her some spending money for her birthday which is about one week before Disney on Ice. How much do you think would be a good amount for her, DD6, DD7, and DD14? I have been to Disney on Ice before but not for a couple of years so if you have been recently and can give me an idea I would appreciate it. Thanks!

We recently went to see Beauty and the Beast on Ice and the magic number seemed to be $8 or $10. The snow cones in collectible mugs were $8 or $10, crowns with Mickey ears + cotton candy were $10, flashing lights were around $10, etc. The show was a lot of fun and what a thoughtful gift you are giving!

I think that is such a nice gift. We just went and I gave my kids each $10 to spend- DD chose a snow cone in souvenier cup and DS chose a toy.
You could make up brown bags for the with juice pouch, zip lock baggie of popcorn or chex mix, m&ms, maybe some Beauty and Beast stickers or something like that. That way maybe the 3 DDs wouldn't be wanting a lot of snacks... (which can be very expensive)

Just took DD to Monsters Inc on Ice this weekend. Snowcones were $10 & $12 in the character cups. Programs were $15 and came with a Monsters Inc hardhat. The lightup toys were all $18. Popcorn was $6 and $10. Small stuffies and figurines were all around $10. I would say a minimum of $10 per child. Unfortunately all the snacks, souveniors, etc.. are a little pricey. We spent as much on souveniors and snacks as we did on the tickets and dinner.

CheapMom ~ Great idea. I was thinking I could get a Beauty and Beast gift bag and fill it with things they like and maybe some glow bracelets and snacks and a few dollars for that one thing they can't live without. Thank you!

That is a good idea just be careful if you get searched. I went to Finding Nemo on Thanksgiving and the made you open all purses and bags. Those bringing in water bottles had to remove the cap for some reason.

I would make they are items that they can fit in their coat pockets. Also the light sticks were $18.00. You can get them cheaper at the disney store or like the other poster said glow sticks. Which you can get at the $1 store.

We just went to finding Nemo also and my kids carried their snacks in right out in the open. I actually called and asked if my kids could bring treat bags with snacks into the arena. They said no problem. That is Baltimore Arena- maybe it is different depending on the arena.
Of course they still searched my bag - but I don't think the were looking for snacks- more of a security thing.
LisaNJ25- did you like the show? we loved it and the best part is - my kids won the tickets in a drawing contest!
