Disney No Longer Serving All Beef Hot Dogs

GACK!!! :scared1:

I guess we won't be visiting Casey's next month ... this makes me sad. The whole wheat buns were bad enough but this ??? I've never eaten a hot dog with chicken meat in it ... chicken talons maybe to go along with the boiled shoeleather, but never chicken meat! :rotfl2:

We were so looking forward to geting caseys hotdogs and sitting on the bleachers watching the cartoons,, think i will not tell the wife,,

But its the Buns that are worrying me,, i have not heard,, whats with the whole wheat buns? i.e. brown or ?? i can only eat white bread

I did not know anything changed.

Has anyone actually tried them to see if they're any good or is there just a revolt without a taste test? lol

Last year, probably in mid-summer, Disney switched their hotdog and hamburger buns to whole wheat. When we stopped at Casey's last fall the buns weren't awful exactly but they were very dry and fell apart quite easily. We didn't care for them at all.

I don't know if Disney is offering people an option between wheat and white - I haven't heard that they are but that doesn't meant that they haven't.

For some people, if the new dogs aren't kosher, they have to revolt without tasting.

That's one reason this move surprises me so much - they've changed a very popular food item without making any kind of official announcement and if they aren't kosher have done a huge disservce to a large number of guests.

It's a weird move if you ask me ... but no one did. ;) :rotfl2:

Maybe fewer guests will get diverticulitis with this change

AH HA! Last February, I had a couple of hamburgers, and the buns fell apart-not nice! Now I know why. I had one early this month-it didn't seem as bad. I wonder if they changed their formula?

Kosher hot dogs also use quality meat cuts. There can't be anything from the backside, no Eyes, brains, etc either.

Keep in mind that Filet Mignon is from the backside - and its not Kosher... I dont think most dogs use brains, eyes, etc - that was an urban legend according to Food Networks food program I cant remember the name of!!

ITA - they need to offer Kosher Hot Dogs!

I wonder if the corndog nuggets are remaining the same. Or if one can request a kosher dog/nuggets. I hope so!

Got a hotdog at Casey's last Thursday and couldn't figure why everyone raves about this place. It was no different than if I'd boiled an oscar meyer in my own kitchen. Maybe they had already made the change, but either way, I couldn't help think that I can't believe I wasted a CS here for a small hotdog and cracker jack. Won't be going back either way.

This is not good. My granddaughter is latose intolerant and the beef hotdogs are one of the very few things she can eat at CS locations. The nuggets have dairy in the crust, so we do peal them. We always ask if the dogs are beef when ordering them and as of this past August they were. I have to warn my daughter now that this might not be an option for her anymore. (No pizza, no mac/cheese, no grilled cheese, no nuggets,,,,,not much left for the baby girl to eat.)

There is no direct connection between a hot dog not being all-beef and having any kind of fillers in it. A part beef/part chicken hot dog can be all meat!
If Disney's are all meat, then you're fine.

As always we will check with the many chefs in Disney. Just this August she had a hot dog at LeCellier (weird), but the chef said she could eat it as it did not contain any dairy. The chefs in Disney are very good and very informative. We will bring it up during our trip next month. But on a side note, she can not eat anything from the skillet at WCC per the chef. Everything has some type of butter/dairy in it--alot of folks didn't know that, us included. TS locations are very good, but CS are a challenge.

Well-they now may as well just serve the plain roll. Those "hybrid" hotdogs are pretty tasteless.

Casey's is not the only place to get a hot dog at WDW. Cosmic rays and other places serve hot dogs and they are all the same, contrary to popular belief. So this change is going to be WDW wide not just the Magic Kingdom.

Ohhh I totally agree that they need a kosher option! Some of my friends keep kosher so I know all about how hard it is to find kosher items!

Totally incorrect!
A part chicken, part beef hotdog, can be Kosher provided it is made from Kosher chicken and beef, under the proper conditions and supervision.

I was about to say the same thing. You can get beef/chicken kosher dogs.

I honestly never figured out the hoopla over casey's either? :confused3 Although I DO love their corn dog nuggets and fries with malt vinegar!! mmmmmm

I just returned home from my trip.... and a must do for me is a Casey's Hot Dog, they were always so good, I noticed a different taste and also the size of the dog was smaller. A few days later I went back and said I like to have an all beef hot dog.. the girl told me they no longer serve them!!!:scared1::scared1:

They are now chicken hot dogs! Another way for Disney to save money. No more ham at any of the buffet's as well.. Disney is now buying a lesser grade of meat to serve at the same price! :sad2:

Say it aint so! Did they change the hot dogs at cosmic ray's as well? I love the dogs at cosmic rays!

I mean I can maybe see it as an issue that all beef hot dogs cannot be guaranteed to be kosher, but all chicken? I guess they cannot go with turkey/chicken/pork wieners for other religious reasons as well.
