I am generally opposed to these. Why remake these and not make something new. Watched the Jungle Book and really enjoyed. Jon Favreau really fleshed out the story (perhaps drawing more from the original book) Just loved it. Have yet to watch the rest. Beauty and the Beast (Like the casting) but love the original so much. Wonder how it will stand up.

For me the ones that offer something new or a twist on the original are the best. I haven't seen all of the straight remakes, but I would rank them as follows:

Dumbo - It's very different and I am a fan of Burton's Style.
Maleficent - I liked the twist on the original painting Maleficent as misunderstood.
Maleficent II - Some didn't like it but to me it was a great high-fantasy type of movie.
Alice in Wonderland - It's not so much a remake as it is a sequel, but it worked pretty well I think.
Jungle Book - It had enough differences to make it a worthwhile watch though it's still very similar - the original not being all that fleshed out helps.
Alice II - It wasn't as strong as the first one but it had some enjoyable parts - it might have been better if Burton had stayed to direct.
Beauty and the Beast - I mean, it was fine, just too similar to the original and it pales in comparison, as almost anything would - the original is a masterpeice!
Cinderella - Like the above it was well done but unnecessary - it did flesh some things out a little more and I liked the inclusion of the song "Lavender's Blue" from So Dear to My Heart.

Haven't Seen:
Lion King - It just seems too similar and I don't like the washed out, realistic look - I'll watch it someday probably.
Aladdin - This does at least look amazing visually - I may give it a watch soemtime.
Mulan - I so want to see it and I think it will likely top my list!

Cinderella was fantastic!!! I honestly can't believe people didn't like it. The musical score, the costumes, the colors were amazing. Cinderella was cast perfectly. It was so lush and gorgeous. I can watch this one over and over.

I happened to also really enjoy Beauty and The Beast. Was she the greatest Belle? No. But everyone else made up for it and I again loved the music and the look of it. I can watch this again too.

Mostly agree with this except I would put Aladdin higher. Not sure if it would be tier 1 but its just a fun move. Its the one that is the most rewatchable for me. The songs are just so big and playful. Also, for as much crap Will got before it came out, he did a really good job as the genie.

I think Cinderella is one of those movies that people just havent seen. There have been so many live action versions of the story that people just didnt bother, and imo missed out. Its a fantastically cast and very well made adaption of the story.

I enjoyed every movie they’ve put out for different reasons, some more than others. For some reason there wasn’t much that allowed Beauty and the Beast to stick with me. After about 5 viewings, I still cant figure out what it is. But I just liked the tier 2 movies in my list a little more.

Aladdin, Jasmin, and Genie were absolutely perfect. The songs and sets too. I just wasn’t as attached to Jafar as I was in the animated version.

I think this gets forgotten because it isn't a remake of one of the WDAS animated films. I thought the new version was good - again totally different from the original, but that's a good thing in my view.

Are they renaming Hulu to Star, or is it still just the service’s name overseas?

Hulu remains Hulu here. I believe it is the overseas service. Certainly getting harder to keep track of all these different services.

Falcon and the Winter Soldier is so close too. I imagine much of the editing is done too. They might need 2 months to edit the remainder of what they need to shoot, but its looking more and more clear that Black Widow somehow ties into FatWS. Taskmaster and Zemo were both Thunderbolts, so it would certainly make sense if they’re tying in that angle
