Disney: "Starting Sept. 23, we will pause the use of virtual queue for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, and guests at Disney’s Hollywood Studios may experience this incredible attraction using a traditional standby queue for the first time since it opened in 2019."

This only applies for Disney World. Disneyland the VQ will still be in place for now.

ETA: Experience Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance Like Never Before at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

From the Parks Blog Post: "Virtual queues continue to be helpful with attraction access, merchandise launches, grand openings and more, and guests should continue to check the My Disney Experience app for the latest on how we’re using virtual queues across Walt Disney World Resort including its potential use at Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance at a later date, or from time to time."

Holy...! That's HUGE! No VQ is awesome! I assume now, it will have Standby or the Paid Individual Attraction entry only.

That will be one looooong line. This may exert some upward pressure on IA$.

They're going to do this so that people are willing to pay $20 a person to not stand in those lines. They know exactly what they're doing.
This was my thought as I was reading it. The only way to ride is what I assume will be a very long line or pay to skip that. I mean, it makes me consider paying for it when we go and I ridden it twice at DL.

People would have paid anyway when they didn't get a boarding group - lots of people got shut out every day! This will make the advantage more visible though, but overall I think it's a good change. I hated the VQ process!

My plan will be to do what I do with FoP, get in line right before closing time. And maybe rope drop if I want to ride twice.

AND....this means that NO ONE will be on any of the other rides in HS, since they'll all be in this line!

SCORE!

:rotfl2:
I agree completely. While I love it I was soured by how many times it broke down on me the last trip in August it is no longer a must-do for me.
Incredible experience when it works.

If I can walk on to Falcon, Tower or Aerosmith as a result I will gladly do so.

We aren’t going until next year but this really lowers the pressure and anxiety I had over this ride.
