Just keep in mind they grow up quick. We started going when my oldest was 4. She’s 11 now and 3/4 of my kids LOVE the thrill rides and we’ll have to decide to either pay LL or wait.
I guess my thought is when he’s older, if I don’t want to pay, then he can decide if he wants to wait or skip it. In July, there were hour plus lines for everything so that’s extra hard with a little kid.

Also do u think you will be able to purchase a boarding group for remy or ROTR and still buy a LL
Doubtful as they said you can't buy the same ride twice in the same day. Don't see how they will let you get it free and buy it.

It's really not all that complicated, although Disney didn't help anything with their choice of terminology. There are 3 components of "Disney Genie".

Genie is the new add-on to MDE that will provide real time info on wait times and make suggestions to you as to what you should do next (based on criteria you establish). This is free to all guests.

Genie + is the name of the new fastpass system. This is essentially the MaxPass system that was in use at Disneyland. This will cost $15/day per person and you can purchase it for only the days you want to use it. This will give you access to the Lightning Lane (new name for the fastpass queue). You can hold only a single LL pass at a time, and can only book them the day of your visit. Genie + is available for all the existing fastpass attractions EXCEPT the top two attractions in each Park. Like FP+, availability will be limited.

Individual Paid Attractions: these are the top two rides in each park. There is still a stand by queue (or boarding group) for these, but if you want to use the Lightning Lane, you have to pay extra for that. Pricing has not been announced but it will depend on the day, the crowds, and the time. Anyone can purchase this option, whether you have purchased Genie + or not. You can purchase only 2 of these per day. Availability of slots for this option will be limited as well.

There are more details to come and the nuances are unknown at this time, but this is a brief summary as of now. Hope it helps some.

Steve
Steve - A big THANK YOU to you and to the other wonderful folks on this board who jumped in to give me a clear and concise "snapshot" of Genie/G+/LL. I saw the request to move G+ discussions elsewhere, but did want to take a moment to say thanks to all. You're great!

I don't recall seeing this anywhere. Where did you see/read that you could only buy the ride once? It will be interesting to see if you can get a BG then also purchase the same ride if someone chooses to.

From the article ...
In the video, we can hear that guests are instructed to take out the windows and place them inside the cabin. The windows are removable for emergency situations

In all the years (decades) I've been riding the monorail, I've never paid attention to the removable windows ... I guess another trivia tidbit to add to my arsenal

I swear this past week has felt like 5 Mondays in a row.

Yeah my kids 8,5 and 3 are even now pretty good at saying if they want to wait it or not and they do really well for the most part in line. So right now I don't plan on paying for it much. If in time they add an add on option for length of AP I may consider that. We don't do full days pretty much ever so it really won't be worth buying.

That's the thing. Many guests, don't go open to close. But with the Genie+ purchase, you are going to feel you NEED to stay to get full value. Those that like to sleep in on vacation and arrive later in the day (our family), will not purchase this, as by the time you arrive, potentially there will be no 'good' tier 2 attractions left and the value of the add on will not be there. I refuse to pay extra to ride old rides, and extra extra to ride new rides.
We already discussed as a family, and will continue to vacation as we always did (minus, the surety of knowing we had at least 3 rides booked in with a minimal wait ahead of time... sigh). No need to spend more money. The rides at Disney are not what makes our vacations magical.

Thanks. I hadn't thought of this. Buying LL, and not Genie+ for the day. Doing standby for rest of rides instead.

That’s a good question if they ever do early morning magic again
