This really comes down to how many attractions become individual purchases. I could pretty much always get a same day fastpass for Space Mountain when I was there. The new rides that will have Virtual Queues are not a big deal because you dont have to pay extra for that but there are a lot of big rides that were pretty easy to get same day fastpasses for free.

THIS! If you knew how to use the old FP+ system, you could always get extras easily, and the fewer people in your party, the easier that was.

My new strategy is looking more and more like 2-3 night renting DVC pts for the extra extended hrs then move offsite and save a ton of money. I can get early access to the paid passes, that’s a ****ty resort perk.

There’s a post in here that clarified that a bit further, and the blog post I shared from DFB only implies that resort guests get the early tier 1 access. Everyone can get 1 genie+ attraction at 7am is my understanding so far.

My understanding was that only resort guests could obtain the 1 genie+ attraction at 7:00 from their resort but off site guests would have to wait until their arrival at park to select their genie+ attraction.

Is everything happening at 7am? Genie + & Individual Attraction Selection are....so Virtual Queue will be, as well? That would mean being up by 7am to potentially glean 4 different things in 3 different sections of the app.

UPDATE and important clarification: WDW resort guests will be able to reserve Lightning Lane "individual attraction selections" starting at 7am. HOWEVER -- there is no resort/onsite advantage for Genie+. ALL guests with Genie+ can book their first attraction starting at 7am.

Here is the post, Scott Gustin clarified that all guests with Genie+ will get to make a selection at 7am for the rides included with Genie+

I’m betting the Genie+ system begins very soon in next few weeks to give CMs a chance to get use to the process and be able to answer questions...I can’t imagine Disney wanting to wait until 10/1 to begin this with all the crowds and chaos there will be in parks on the “Big Day”!

Disney's video specifically says it must be purchased daily for APs right now. I think they are waiting to see if APs bite. If they do, then it will stay per day. If they don't, then they may come up with a length of pass price like they did at DLR.

For many AP holders it won’t be worth it, they don’t spend open to close in the parks as is ans go enough that it’s easy to skip things when lines are long. It’s gonna be one of those things it’s not gonna be worth it for those that pop in the evening or tend to do short days.

A lot of Disneyland passholders bought the yearly Maxpass, even though they could still get paper FP. If they have to have Maxpass to buy the individual pay per attraction, then I could also see this being wanted. Many local passholders complain that it takes a year or two for them to get on rides like FOP. Rise wasn't as big of an issue since it uses BG. Maybe most new stuff will have a BG option from now on though.

FWIW I received an email about it this evening with the know before you go verbiage and we arrive just in time for 50th weekend.

Thank GOD our trip is in December. Time to let the dust settle and others figure out how the heck the system works so we don't have to be the crash test dummies. To those who are among the first to use Genie...we salute you!

Same !!!

They kept saying “later this fall”. Fall starts on September 22nd. So I was thinking maybe November? Then I remembered….. Halloween starts in August for these people… so in reality -who knows!

Len Testa thinks that the paid part will come out in October, maybe by the 50th, and thee free part later in the year.
