Disney News, Discussion & an Element of Fun - 2023 Edition

Yeah, those happen all the time around here too, planned. But, this was a spur of the moment dad decision that would have been easy to chalk it up to a bad airline and kids be disappointed for a long time. Instead, he turned around and headed south. I hope United treats them fairly.

I’m not minimizing what dad did but people in NJ (and all over the country) jumping in the car (rental or their own) to drive to Disney after their flights are cancelled happens very often. I know two people who did it last October/November. They didn’t turn around and drive home the next day but they paid out the butt for a one way rental then hit a park soon after arrival as not to lose money or upset the kids.

I really like this, and cannot wait for more details about the Treasure. It feels like the Wish was like Fantasyland, and the Treasure will be like Adventureland. I'm just now imagining the Third Triton ship will be Frontierland or Critter Country themed lol 😂
Or perhaps Tomorrowland-themed? 😂

Oh, I know lots of people that do it when THEIR flights are cancelled too, but this guy WASN'T going on the trip. For him to do it is way above whole families driving once the airline cancels.

So your saying we can expect Dole Whips?

This is always my plan in the event my flight is cancelled although I have doubts my car would make it. I would probably rent one. I fly out of a regional airport (Trenton) which is the Frontier hub and if your flight is cancelled you're basically #$%& out of luck until the next day. Luckily that has yet to occur.

..and yes that is a great dad and those kids will hopefully remember this when he does eventually go and not yell at him when they get tired haha!

They were his wife and kids. To me this is something any good father would and should do if physically possible.

I think it’s great he did this but not newsworthy or shocking to me.

Do they correspond to Halloween parties?
I think maybe 2 do and the other 3 don't? And they don't even fall on the same nights of the week. They are all over the place (unlike the normal Monday and Wednesday schedule they've kept almost the whole time).

I hope so too but I doubt it. I fly United a lot (probably more than any other airline) and their customer service is laughably bad.
So agree. We had a terrible experience with them about a year and a half ago and they were horrible to deal with. We haven't flown them since.

I've had the opposite experience and try to fly with United every time now. The the airline that has messed up more than once with me is American, so I won't fly them unless absolutely necessary.

I wonder if it's certain areas that have worse experience with specific airlines. I always fly out of LAX even though it's not the closest because I usually don't have any issues there.

Isn't it odd that the wife didn't just rent a car and drive herself? That's what we would've done. It seems so odd to me that they instead had the 2nd adult spend 34 hrs. in a car and do a round-trip long car ride and take a day off work when she could've just driven the 1 way.
