Did they ever stop renewals of APs in CA or was it just no new ones like here?

DLR lawsuit was filed November 9, 2021. Disney did not stop renewals until about May 28, 2022. Disney then restarted renewals August 18, 2022. I do not know if the stopping renewals and restarting was connected to the lawsuit.

No info on if Disney will stop renewals of annual passes at Disney World.
Yep, they “sunset” the old AP program, I think in January of 2021 (or maybe even December 2020). The park re-opened April 21st, 2021, over a year after being closed. They didn’t introduce the Magic Key program until August 2021.

Then it definitely seems as though they paused renewals and sales of MKs due to the lawsuit. When they brought the keys back (about a week before some keys expired), they changed the legal wording and got rid of the Dream Key, which is what the lawsuit focused on. We now have the inspire key.

But I’m still bummed that I didn’t get my WDW AP before our last trip. Our TA advised we wait until we get WDW to upgrade to APs because she still wasn’t sure how things would work with Genie+ since that had just come out. I will forever kick myself for listening to her. 😭

But it also doesn’t seem like WDW has the same reservations access that we do. It’s calmed down a bit. But, I had the Dream Key, and for a while I could never book a weekend day. But if I bought a single day ticket I could go. It made a lot of us mad that we paid for the most expensive Key specifically for weekend access, but could almost never go on the weekends.

They’ve fixed a lot of that now and it’s easier to make last minute reservations. But last year, if you didn’t book it at least a month or two in advance (3 if you wanted that Saturday), you didn’t get to go.

EPCOT, Magic Kingdom, and Hollywood Studios Will Be Open Until Midnight on New Year’s Eve at Disney World

Walt Disney World has released its park hours for New Year’s Eve and three of the four Walt Disney World theme parks will be open late enough to ring in the New Year! Here are the posted park hours:

Magic Kingdom
  • December 30, 31: 9am to 12am
EPCOT
  • December 31: 9am to 12am (Harmonious at 6:30pm)
Disney’s Hollywood Studios
  • December 31: 8:30am to 12am
Disney’s Animal Kingdom

New Year’s Eve Fireworks

Typically, Magic Kingdom and EPCOT have New Year’s Eve fireworks at midnight.
At Magic Kingdom, the New Year’s Eve fireworks show is called Fantasy in the Sky, and it will likely be shown on December 30th and 31st as Magic Kingdom celebrates New Year’s Eve two nights in a row. Here’s a look at the New Year’s Eve Fantasy in the Sky fireworks from last year.

Passholder Bonus Reservations Coming Up For Animal Kingdom, EPCOT

With crowds dipping ever so slightly from mid-October highs, Disney World is enticing Annual Passholders to visit Disney’s Animal Kingdom and EPCOT over the coming days by providing Bonus Reservations for each park. Bonus Reservations, as you might remember, are “free” reservations that do not count against your Pass-type allotment. That is, even if you have used all of your Pass-type allotment (between 3-5 reservations held at a single time), you can still get into theme parks with Bonus Reservation availability.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom is a Bonus Reservation theme park tomorrow, October 22nd, while EPCOT is offering a Bonus Reservation day on Monday, October 24th. Keep in mind that Bonus Reservation dates don’t necessarily mean that a theme park won’t fill up, so lock in those reservations soon if you plan on visiting.

I just don’t know with an 8pm show time what time I am going to need to line up

I don’t either. I wouldn’t want to do more than an hour but I keep reading 90 minutes from other posters.

It would be nice if DHS extended hours to 10 pm since the second show is at 9:30 pm.

My day only 1 show at 8, which seems not to be the norm. 90 minutes is so long no way my 8 year old is going to be happy about that….. we shall see I’ll be monitoring kind Of hoping to get a LL for it

It’s two shows 11/3-11/7. We will be there in the PM 11/5 and 11/8. Now to decide which show we should try for but I’m also hoping for a LL too.
