This is corporate double speak if I've ever heard it.

So progress = having a product so awesome that people are willing to pay more for less until you find their breaking point.

Which is fine, I suppose, so long as the economy can bear it.

However, economic kerfuffles DO happen. And then, WDW is scrambling to get people in the parks. BUT, if they've alienated the base that was so faithful to them, then what?

Judging from the still-massive crowds, I doubt that anybody at Disney is worried about losing revenue from the parks due to Chapek's revisions. If some people stop coming, others will take their place and the money will keep rolling in without a slowdown. It doesn't look like they're anywhere close to the breaking point so I expect the service cuts and price increases to continue.

As for HEA, I'd love to see it come back but it would have to be updated. The most recent movie in it was Moana and that came out in 2016. I wouldn't be surprised if they just decide to save money and keep Enchantment and just take off the new opening they just put on.

Hate to be the downer but I really don’t think it will open before Xmas at this point. I don’t think they’ve asked for Cast Members to apply for the opening team yet, and I think it will take about four months once that happens before the grand opening.

I care more about the railroad opening by December. And it looks like that is on time. The engineers have been training for a month now.

I would guess Tron would open for D23 members, DVC, Annual Passholders, etc. in November/December... (just like Guardians was) then regular folks in January.

Why would either of those matter. W&D doesn't go through MK and imo days of the week don't matter at a themepark. I doubt it opens to the masses that early anyway. It doesn't seem like they've been testing that much and even though it's in Shanghai they still need to go through all that. But I don't see why they couldn't have a media event that weekend/early week.

Fireworks will be interesting. I assume they will stop the new overlay with Walt/Roy/Mickey they have just added.

Will they go back to HEA? I doubt it because I can't see them going back to a previous show, but you can't rule it out.

Backtracking a little... can we just have Wishes back? I experienced Enchantment for the first time a few days ago. It was absolute insanity. There's not enough space for the masses. Last week was a slower week, crowd wise, but there was still a ton of people and just nowhere for them to all go on Main Street for a show. The poor cast members have an impossible job of trying to keep the walkways clear. They are yelling. They are getting yelled at. People are yelling at their families out of frustration. Guests are being routed backstage past trucks and trash bins on the Emporium side of Main Street. It was pure madness. We didn't even really see the show because of the craziness.

Magic Kingdom needs a fireworks show that is purely in the sky and without projections. Enchantment was quite honestly, a dangerous situation. It needs to go away, as soon as yesterday. The execs who make these show decisions and give the guidelines for the cast members to follow, need to spend time in the shoes of the average guest and of the cast members who are put in these predicaments.

Anyway, most everything not Enchantment was great. Carry on!

TRON Lightcycle Run Quick Dispatch Interval Testing Underway at Magic Kingdom

This morning, ride vehicle testing continued, but without human riders. However, we noticed that Disney was dispatching trains at a much quicker pace than we have previously seen. Typically, we could expect to see a train zoom by every 2-5 minutes, sometimes longer. This morning, Disney was dispatching trains closer to their peak efficiency – just 25 seconds between dispatches. With a dual load platform, Disney can quickly dispatch trains as long as the loading is efficient. Here’s a look at the loading platform in Shanghai Disneyland, which will be the same as what is present in Magic Kingdom. A second load area is to the left of the sloping walkway.

If Disney is able to dispatch trains at an interval of 25 seconds, that translates to about 2,000 guests per hour. Of course, the operational reality of the attraction will probably take it down to about 1,200 to 1,500 guests per hour, assuming that there is no downtime.



We also got a closer look at the accessible vehicle, which allows guests to sit straight up instead of riding in a motorcycle position. Not every train has an accessible car.



Disney has not announced an opening date for TRON Lightcycle Run at Magic Kingdom, but Disney Parks Chairman Josh D’Amaro is set to take the stage at the D23 Expo and we imagine he’d like to announce an exact opening date for a ride that has taken more than 4 years to build.

Days of the week always matter, and Sunday would be a weird ride premiere day, IMO. W&D matters because it means that its already a really busy weekend so there’s not as much room on property that needs filling and it would make more financial sense to open a new ride on a weekend when they have at least a few rooms that need filling.

That’s possible if they open up applications in the next week or so. Gives them September for interviews and hiring, October for initial training, November for cast previews, and December for AP/DVC previews.

Vaccinated Guests Will No Longer Be Required to Take COVID-19 Tests to Sail on Disney Cruise Line​

Since returning to service last summer, Disney Cruise Line has required even vaccinated guests to take a COVID-19 test before sailing. Starting in just a few weeks time, these regulations will be changing.
Beginning September 23, 2022, for sailings aboard the Disney Dream, Disney Fantasy, Disney Wish and Disney Wonder and beginning November 7, 2022, for sailings aboard the Disney Magic, fully vaccinated Guests are no longer required to participate in COVID-19 testing in order to sail.
