Good luck. You have to assume all of the ECV will be rented during the day. They have to be recharged before they can be rented..guests with hoppers and APs may enter the park earlier then MVMCP guests.
Absolutely, if you can get one from outside the park, do that. They are better maintained, move faster and are way, way cheaper. I rented one once direct from Disney at MK and at one point while enroute to the castle I looked down and saw a snail pass me. Very frustrating when it won't keep up with slowly walking people.Good luck. You have to assume all of the ECV will be rented during the day. The question isn't running out. The question how many, if any, will be available.
Rent outside unless you can settle for a wheelchair
Thanks so much for the help. I decided after a very long sleepless night that I'm going to rent one from an outside vendor. It will only be for the party. I have to look at more to see if any are cheaper than the one I looked at. Thanks again.![]()
The speed is adjustable on most ECV's, including the ones at Disney. They turn them down to the low setting so renters not used to them don't wind up running someone over right away. Their full speed is faster than my brisk walking pace.Absolutely, if you can get one from outside the park, do that. They are better maintained, move faster and are way, way cheaper. OT but that shouldn’t deter you. Just ask the bus driver to steer the ECV on/off. Heck, my ECV user always wants to do it himself and he’s had a couple bus drivers straight up say “no, that goes bad, I’ll do it”.…I do not rent them outside because I do not want to deal with them on the buses…
If it isn't widely known how to adjust it, then that information is useless. As usual whenever Disney tries for caution they overdo it. Even if I knew, I wouldn't touch it because if something happens it takes most of the responsibility off Disney by saying that the controls were overridden by the user. So even if that adjustment was readily available it comes with some nasty possibilities if something goes wrong. When I rent one from outside, it is already something useable and doesn't require any devious alterations. Like most of the discussions about ECV's the problem of someone not knowing how to operate them is greatly exaggerated. It takes probably upwards of 3 minutes to completely understand how they work. No matter how skilled one is in operating one, nothing will alter the results of someone stepping in front of a moving vehicle without looking. The machine doesn't run into them, they walk into the machine. The speed is adjustable on most ECV's, including the ones at Disney. Apparently you still don't completely understand how ECV's work. It's pretty widely known how to adjust the speed. There's a readily available dial on the control panel, not some sort of "devious alteration". Disney wants you to go as fast as you're comfortable, they just don't want you to get there until you take the 3 minutes to get used to the handling. If it isn't widely known how to adjust it, then that information is useless. There's no "devious alteration" involved. There is a dial on the left in front of you that can be adjusted as you roll along. It goes from "Snail" to "Grandkids have to run to keep up." It is intended to be used! I've been given scooters that were set to slow, and I've also been given scooters that took off like a race car. I arrived at MK at 5:00, no scooters so I was waitlisted. Thirty minutes later, while I eating dinner, they notified me that a scooter was available, and I had maybe ten or twenty minutes to claim it. Obviously, that didn't happen. But when I went back to the scooter rental after we ate, there were plenty available. Not super helpful, but I rented an ECV one day at MK in early July. When I returned it at 2pm there was a sign that there were no more rentals available and had a waitlist. I would say your chances of getting one late in the day (party) is probably unlikely
