Hedge Fund Manager Urges The Walt Disney Company to Spin Off ESPN, Fold Hulu into Disney+

A hedge fund manager with a significant stake in The Walt Disney Company has sent a letter to CEO Bob Chapek to spin off ESPN and fold Hulu into Disney+, according to CNBC‘s Yun Li.
Li reports that Daniel Loeb, who manages the group Third Point, has purchased a stake in the company worth approximately $1 billion. In the letter, Loeb argues that spinning off ESPN would create a large free cash flow for the company, while keeping Disney out of sportsbook betting. Though Chapek has expressed a desire to enter the market, the potential move has criticized by some as running opposite of the company’s family-friendly image.

BREAKING: Magic Kingdom Enhancing ‘Disney Enchantment’ with Archival Walt & Roy Footage to Properly Celebrate Walt Disney World’s 50th

Last night’s fireworks testing at the Magic Kingdom revealed a preview of new additions to Disney Enchantment in honor of the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World.

Thanks to Twitter user @wheels_518, we can share photos of archival footage of Walt and Roy Disney projected onto Cinderella Castle.

Adding from Blog Mickey:

Sources indicated that the 50th Anniversary medallion will play clips of the Florida Project film, Roy Disney’s dedication speech, and other historical footage from the early days of Walt Disney World. The new footage and fireworks will be roughly two minutes long and play at the beginning of Disney Enchantment.

Great that they are adding this in. Yes it's late, but better late than never.

Enchantment may not be as good as HEA, but that is the nature of following up something that was such a beloved show. It was almost certainly never going to top it. It's possible that they may never come up with something that good again.

Just bring
Agreed. I don't think one projection will save how underwhelming the show is (and how Happily ever After was better. Even for celebration's sake, Disneyland Paris's 30th fireworks is superior to Enchantment).

Hopefully this will get a really good reaction and the next new show if there is one, or they bring bach HEA with a Walt 100th anniversary scene will have more emotional connection than Enchantment does.

I agree, I loved Wishes so much and didn't love HEA nearly as much even though it's wonderful.

Change is hard sometimes!

It’s funny because I was so sad when they said they were getting rid of Wishes… I really wasn’t feeling all that open to HEA. Then one night a friend was talking about how much they liked HEA and had me listen to the lyrics, they were even “singing” them to me through messaging. lol After listening to it for the first time, I loved it. I loved it even more so when I saw it in person for the first time. I always had an emotional reaction as soon as that song started… and I still do. I miss it so much.
