Earl of Sandwich Pop-Up Location Coming to Downtown Disney District

After its full location was closed to make way for a major reimagining of Downtown Disney District, Earl of Sandwich is returning to the district with a pop-up location.

Orange County Register shared that the new location will be between the former ESPN Zone and former Rainforest Cafe (now Star Wars Trading Post). This is a short-term, temporary solution to satisfy fans of the sandwich shop.

It was not announced how long the pop-up location will be available or if a new permanent location will eventually be opened.

I have bought so many jerseys already for Christmas - but my daughter would LOVE that Halloween one! Oh my word!! And that jacket!

Not even going to WDW this year, and yet. . . .they have my money. . . LOL
Wonder if there will be some MNSHP exclusive merch?

I wonder how G+ will no work with these hard tickets. Will you be able to purchase and make LL starting at 4. I remember people making FP+ starting at 4 pm with their MNSSHP and MVMCP tickets. Was that a loophole or was that something that everyone had access to? I did MVMCP but we had park tickets so did our 3 FP+.

FP with hard ticket events was more of a loophole than an advertised benefit. It only worked if you weren't trying to use FP at a different park in the AM and it was sometimes glitchy. I remember reading suggestions that you book all of your ticketed FP first and then party FPs last or else the system would think you didn't have enough days to cover your FP allocation.

With FP, when it was a free benefit. It was nice to be able to book a couple to have in hand heading into the park. But, to pay for G+ for only two hours of ride time seems like it can't possibly be worthwhile. Or, if you are using G+ somewhere else first and then going to a party, I doubt the system will know that your MK FPs should be for after 4pm. They have it properly coded to know that you can't hop until 2pm, but that was by design. I doubt they'll build in extra coding to understand what time to start your G+ allocations should start at MK for a party.

That said, I'm *sure* someone will be testing on 8/12 so, unless you're going to the very first party, reports will be out there soon enough.

Din Tai Fung Coming to Downtown Disney, Reimagining Announced for UVA Bar and Catal

As part of a presentation this evening, Disney has announced that the world-renowned Tin Tai Fung Chinese restaurant will be coming to Downtown Disney as the anchor for a West End expansion. In addition, Disney announced a reimagining of UVA Bar and Catal. The reimagining will see the locations renamed Centrico and Paseo. They will be gourmet, Mexican-inspired dining locations. They will be helmed by Chef Carlos Gaytán.
This is big sad for me.

Uva and Catal are wonderful, and we already have a mexican place in DTD.

Really disappointed by Disney's choices on this one.

I'm excited about Din Tai Fung. But, not so much about the reimagining of UVA and Catal. I only just dined at UVA for the first time two weeks ago and it's so good! Plus Catal is one of my fave breakfast locations. Also, that would mean basically putting a Mexican restaurant right next to another Mexican restaurant. But maybe Tortilla Jo's needs to go, because "gourmet" Mexican sounds exciting!

If you haven't been to Din Tai Fung, you don't know what you've been missing out on. I've said for a while that this would be perfect for Disney. It's served family style, the food usually comes out pretty quickly, and while some stuff might turn off picky eaters I think there is still something for everyone. It really is some of the best dumplings and dim sum you'll have in the states. Hopefully it comes to Disney Springs next. They announced a few weeks ago that they are opening a NYC location, their first on the east coast, so hopefully they will extend further out on the coast.

Splash Mountain Evacuated Today

Fan-fave ride and popular attraction Splash Mountain is temporarily closed right now after an evacuation.

Located in the Magic Kingdom, the ride unexpectedly shut down and all riders were assisted with carefully exiting the ride vehicles.
this is happening A LOT with Splash lately. Normally evacs and temp shutdowns don't worry me, but we've had 2? 3? logs sink and flood in the last few months? It's not a great look

Disneyland President Talks Future of Tarzan’s Treehouse and IP Refresh at Disneyland

Disneyland President Ken Potrock recently spoke on the D23 podcast about some recent happenings at Disneyland. One of the topics that came up was the Tarzan’s Treehouse reimagining. While Potrock didn’t confirm or deny the rumor that an Encanto theme would take over the space, he did confirm that the entrance to the attraction would be changing. Disney will be ripping out the current entrance, which is in the middle of the walkway, and constructing a new entrance in an effort to open up the walkway that connects the Indiana Jones Adventure attraction and Pirates of the Caribbean.

Potrock did say that a “new, vibrant…fresh IP, fresh storytelling” to the attraction. Kim Irvine is heading up the project and new theme.
