Disney Museum

When are you going? We will be there on Sunday morning and then again next weekend. Looking forward to letting everyone know about it.

Oh wow! Have a great time and please post how much fun you have. We're not going into San Francisco this weekend because it's Folsom Street Fair weekend, which means way too much traffic. Maybe next weekend though!

We are only about 45 min away. I'd like to go sometime but probably won't get to for a while. Can't wait to hear more reports! Also please report on the parking situation there. Was it hard to find spot? Squishy or plenty of room? That is my number one reason for avoiding SF- lack of parking where you want to go drives me nuts.

Went to the D23 Preview today. This is an amazing building and location to start with. Then add in the life story of walt, it is a must do if you are interested in the Disney family and Walt.

More to come tomorrow.

I work on the Presidio about 50 yards from the Disney Museum. The Museum sits on the edge of what is called the Parade Ground. In Ye Olde Days, it was a huge field where the soldiers would practice their parade formations, but now it's a huge free parking lot. (At least it is for now -- there are plans in the works to eventually turn it back into a grassy park-type area, but that won't happen for several years.) So if you're coming in the near future, there's plentiful free parking right next to the Museum.

On CBS's Sunday Morning they showed the museum. I love that it was built by the family and not the Disney Corporation. It cost a little more than a 100 million to build. I hope to check it out in the next couple of years.

Looking forward to it! Can't wait to find a weekend to go up and visit.

I saw that this morning- it looks even better than I anticipated. We have plans to visit next April on a SF-LA trip. :woohoo:

Is there public transportation to the Presidio area? We might have a rental car, but we might not.

I'm determined to get there at some point!
All i need is a vaca to Cali and i'm there! haha

looks awesome!!

Thank you. Now that I know I can park when I get there.... :rotfl2:

Anyone else have anything to report on it? I'm so busy now, I proably won't get there until next spring or maybe summer.

MUNI (San Francisco's bus and subway system) does have several lines that run to the Presidio. As a public-transit-only guy (I sold my car 9 months after I moved here), I find MUNI a great way to get around, but it's not as quick or convenient as having your own car. (You could say that about any public transit system, I suppose.)

More info on MUNI is at www.sfmta.com.
