They are so difficult sometimes! I swear I responded No Thanks to the offer for The Lizzie McGuire Movie. I was checking my account (checking) balance online and see a -$ and a pending debit for what I have learned is the cost of one of these movies. I immediately went to the DMC website and sure enough, a movie was shipped 12/28. Now I have to run out to the bank , withdarw money from elsewhere and make a deposit. I thought I finished my errands this morning. errr

From there I tried phoning the toll free number, but I don't have my membership number anywhere that I know of and can't get through to a live person. I had to call the long-distance number for rotary dialers to get a person.

I questioned that I read on the website that DMC is not accepting debit cards (which is what I used to start the club last year), but yet I am being billed with mine. To alliterate, "yes we do not accept debit cards because of the possiblilty of causing overdrafts". Then why was my debit card charged- again? She's removing my card number from the account.

This wasn't the first instance where I thought I'd replied and had a movie shipped. I'm supposed to get notified of my selection by email, which I hardly ever get - try never. When I get one of the offers in the mail I usually try to respond immediately - as in I open it and go online to say No Thanks.

And I swear the movies they've sent without my wanting them (there are 3 now) have not counted towards my agreement, but the website terms say they do, unless they are "specially priced", which these probably have been. The only way to find out the number of movies I have left to purchase on the agreement can be found on the mailings(offers) or by calling back the long-distance phone number.

They most certainly do take debit cards. My Visa check card was linked to the account. I can't tell you the number of movies that I have received that I went online to decline. It's ridiculous. I finally had them remove my card and they bill me. And strangely enough, I no longer get movies I declined lol

:wave2: Thanks for reassuring me that I am not losing my mind (well, that is debatable :teeth: ) about responding. I guess at some point I will call back and verify that my card number has been removed.

I did call back, got my member ship number (that Erin neglected to divulge) and learned that I have 2 movies left to buy. The sooner, the better.

That is why I just have them bill me instead. I too replied "no thanks" to the Lizzie McGuire movie. I did not get any confirmation of my no thanks so I'm sure I'll get the movie, but since they bill me no money will be automatically deducted and I'll just return the movie.

I had the same thing happen to me with a music club a few years ago. DH got on the phone with a live person and said we'd be willing to remain members of the club, but only if they'd quit sending us stuff we told them we didn't want. The took us off the "reply back or you get this" list and we could just order if we saw something we wanted. We still dropped after a while, but I think getting things you decline is common with these clubs.

I received in today's mail, the selection card for LK DVD. I declined this feature online this morning when I realized I was getting The Lizzie McGuire Movie.

For the record: I just got through on the toll free line (took me two calls to get someone with the prompts) and verified that my debit card info was removed and that I did in fact decline this month's feature. So help me if a LK DVD arrives in a month......

DW and I considered the Disney Movie Club upon receiving the mailing recently. I performed a search and read some posts (good and bad) about the club and was still undecided. I added up the cost of the videos I would have to buy if they were 19.95, the 1st video at 14.95 and the cost of shipping at 3.95 per. I took this total and divided by 8 (3 free dvd's, 1st bonus dvd and 4 to buy later) and it averaged $14.60. Rarely have DW and I spent more than that on any dvd recently. We've decided not join.
