Hey, I was flipping through the Disney channel today and it dawned on me how much it has changed over the years. The Disney Channel I remember showed classic Disney Cartoons, Movies, and a few quality original shows and movies. Now it seems like all they show is new shows and movies based on these new shows. No offense, but how much Haley Duff and Raven do I have to watch? When was the last time they showed the original Parent Trap, Blackbeards Ghost, or Return to Witch Mountain? I can't even remember seeing anything with Haley Mills in the last 3 years.

Why doesn't Disney launch a new channel that shows nothing but classic films, cartoons, and shows? I would watch it. Would you?

Just my little rant of discontention...

It's good to know that I'm not alone...

They need to bring it back. It's a great idea

Unfortunately, you are not the first to have the idea. It is my understanding that our pleas have fallen on deaf ears. The best reasoning I get is that they, eventually, plan to release all of these things on DVD and want us to buy them.

Yes, but it semes if they play them on TV it would introduce them to a whole new generation, which would sell more DVD's. If you look at the DVDs that sell, they are the ones with the extra, not the great movies. I mean, in what world can you release Pochahontas and have it out sell Robin Hood or the Fox and the Hound.

:teeth: You are preaching to the choir.

When they did show them, it was usually on a show called "Vault Disney" and very late at night.

Yeah, when no one can see them. Also, they are broken in by SO many commercials. It's sad... I would rather go back to a pay service personally...

So I just rented The North Avenue Irregulars and Snowball Express. Sure, these were'n't oscar caliber flics, but hey, I love them. I remember taping them off of the orriginal Disney Channel and watching them over and over...

Anyone else have movies like this?

I remember watching all the old movies back years ago. The Apple Dumpling Gang is the first that comes to mind. Also all the old parent trap movies & yes even a few of the Disney channel original movies. There are so old classics that were Disney channel originals that I loved. I think they show animated features now on there once every month or 6 weeks but very rarely anything classic. Now even ABC and most other stations rarely show the animated features. It is as someone said, they are more interested in us buying the dvd's then showing them on TV. It's sad when it stoops to that, I mean lots of other channels show old classic movies but since it's Disney only few channels may show it. I wish Disney would come up with an old classics channel for people like us.

I agree. I haven't watched the "current" Disney Channel for a # of years now.

I miss the old movies, too! My kids love movies like The Apple Dumpling Gang, Escape from Witch Mountain, That Darn Cat, Freaky Friday (the original), Old Yeller, etc.

I also wish they'd show classic cartoons, like the ones they show in the Disney hotel lobbies. Kids are glued to those TVs! And it would be nice if they would pick up some old series like DuckTales and Rescue Rangers.

We watch a few shows on The Disney Channel, but it's a shame that so much of it seems to be wasted on newer shows with lower quality than the older ones. The funny thing is that the older shows and movies are already made, so it would cost less to show those than to make new shows and movies all of the time!

And........we like the Halloweentown movies (well, at least the first 2) but it seemed like that was all that was shown for the month of October. I'm sure that there were good classic Halloween-ish movies in the vault that we would have enjoyed for some variety. :confused3

Every now and then, the Hallmark Channel or Family Channel will show a classic Disney movie. Some of the old Love Bug movies were on a couple of weeks ago on one of these channels.
