Disney Mom Panel

Never thought I would be so anxious for a rejection letter! I just want to know darn it!

I have checked every e-mail account possible and NOTHING. I feel so left out.... If Disney sent one rejection, they should have sent 9900.

I put a lot of thought in my answers.

Oh well, 51 days to go and I'll have forgotten all about this. Or maybe not... Who's gonna make the rejected t-shirt??:rotfl2:

My name starts with E and I got my rejection e-mail at 5:42pm on wed.- I still can't get my stationary to work- I emailed them we'll see what happens.

I posted this over on the CB, where we have a thread for those who haven't received any sort of response:

OK, so now that we've all bonded in our collective non-receipt of acceptance or rejection letters, is anyone planning to write to Disney Destinations? I know somewhere on one of these threads early on is the official email address, I'll track it down later and post it here.

I'm not talking about a whiney letter, but a polite one enquiring why you did not receive a response one way or another, when you know that so many others did. Maybe verify your real name and email address.

If I don't hear anything by the end of the day tomorrow, I plan to send one over the weekend (I wouldn't expect to receive anything on Sat. or Sun.).

Maybe if enough of us send emails, they might realize that there was a snafu in their system, or whatever.

I'm at the point most of you are; wondering what happened, and would be satisfied with a rejection (but thrilled with a pass on to the next stage!).

I thought I would post it here also, since some of you may not frequent that board.

And I will add to that email that I have gained more weight eating brownies due to anxiety of not knowing anything at all popcorn:: LOL... rather be eating Mickey ice cream bars! not long though....30 days until 2 weeks in WDW!!!! and with my best bud Nicholas...WOO HOO:cool1: :cool1:

40-60 nites a year on Disney Property? You should get it just by virtue of the fact that you give them so much of your money!!!

"our rejections emails said they would be contacting us in the near future for various other Mom/Disney possibilities. Do you think they will contact us rejectees who got a letter for something else???"

I don't want to be selfish or sound mean to those that did not get any letter, rejection or otherwise, but that was my first thought: they said they wouldn't be contacting the people that did not make it, but those who did get a rejection letter obviously did not make it...Do they REALLY possibly
have us in mind for something else??? I don't think they would say that just to console us. There would be no need.

"We plan to follow up with you in the near future with more details."

GREAT! Now I get to sit on the edge of my seat about that one!!!

Yeah me too. I thought the days of anxiously checking my email were over, PSYCHE!:lmao:

Maybe for those of us who were formally rejected with a letter, the big treat will be we will be the first to be 'invited' to post questions/ask the Disney Mom's Panel! LOL! YIPEE!

They have to make sure they have an audience, too!

Thats the ONLY thing thats consoling me..that they will follow up with me in the near future with more details. Hey, you never know..maybe its something just as terrific as the Mom's panel. Here I go again, I know, always thinking in PIXIE DUST!

Well, for me, this is a big colnsolation and I regret ever doubting (I'm from NYC, I'm cynical.):
On another board, before anyone got any sort of letter, there was speculation that this was all a publicity stunt and that they weren't actually going to choose any real moms/applicants. They just did this to get attention/press for the new Moms Panel and would, in the end, hire professional travel writers.
It made sense to me and I really thought that's what Disney would do.

I'm just really happy they picked real moms.

Also, I have to tell you all that I was a flight attendant for 2 airlines, and over the years, doing rounds of airline interviews, I interviewed and was offerred other flight attendant jobs with other carriers. Having been through all that, I realize that I still couldn't figure out why I was selected and some, who seemed perfectly qualified and well suited to the job (sometimes more so than me, I believed) were not selected. The airlines have their own method and their very own recipe and to the average joe applying, there was no rhyme nor reason as to why some got picked and some did not. I have no doubt Disney is the same way. I also know that Disney is very similar to the airlines in their hiring/business practices (alot of airline people work for Disney and vise versa). So really, don't try to figure it out and don't take it personally if you didn't get selected.

Maybe I'm just too skeptical, but when I first read my rejection letter, I interpreted that part to mean that they're creating new stuff and we'll be first on their email list (ie new "spam list") to hear about it. I figured that someone in marketing realized that they now had a list of 10,000 email addresses of people the know like Disney.

I'm also really curious to see what the demographics are of the panelists. I figure filling this panel is similar to casting a reality TV Show. You know the reality show will have "an old guy" and "A young hunk who is lazy" etc. I have in my head what Disney was trying to cast and can't wait to see if I'm right or not!

I'm also really curious to see what the demographics are of the panelists.

I thought maybe I got rejected because I'm too old...there's one mom on here who got to the next phase and I saw that she was 30. I'm 43 (though I have kids from age 20 to age six, I'm grandma age in the rest of the country! LOL). I didn't give my age, but the fact that I mentioned I have a 20 year old and flew for a really old, now defunct airline, gave it away. In fact, I'm really young to have flown for that airline, so they probably thought I was 70! :rotfl:

There is a poster on another board that said they got a letter rejecting them from the Mom's panel and asking them if they would be interested in being on an 'entertainment panel' instead! My question: do they still get the trip???

Maybe we could do a poll of the people who got it...how old are you, how many kids? ages? How many trips to Disney, etc. Thought I have to reiterate I believe those people should lay low until they know whether they get selected or not. They don't want to take any chances...I have no doubt Disney reads boards like these all the time.

I didn't hear anything and I told them my age 57, and my children's ages and grandchildren's ages. I am still a mom...better yet, a grandmom. We visit WDW 5 weeks a year and always have since my children were young and now I have the experience of taking babies and toddlers...plus DH is retired military and we have stayed at SOG many times prior to our children leaving home. We have stayed on a shoe string budget and now are DVC members with 700 points...we have done it all. I think they got so many good responses that were pretty much identical and it became random. How could any group of folks really read 10,000 entires in that short amount of time and pick and choose? I judged dance team try outs for a college and after 50 some girls, I forgot who was who and who I like why...

Hmmmm.... I was wondering about something... I'm DVC, too. I know that several others that haven't gotten a response yet are also DVC members...

...maybe they'll create a DVC panel? :confused3 Most of us have been through the Disney ranks, just like you pointed out in your post. We have to know a few things about WDW to invest so much of our money in it. ;)

Oh well, at least we tried! :grouphug:

Yeah...not so sure they actually managed to read all 10,000 like they said they did. They probably had a key word search...

We are DVC members as well. My hubby and I think perhaps they didn't want DVC as we may not be as informal in our responses or we are biased. Just wondering why there haven't been any DVC members chosen either? As well, there haven't been any Canadians chosen either, so that probably put me out of the running right there.

I think there are two different rejection letters out there. Someone on a different board posted a different rejection letter that didn't mention a follow up "offer".

I am a DVC member also and mentioned I own DVC and am also a member of the DIS. I have to wonder if those factors didn't come into play for those who were rejected. I think they'd rather have women who are not DVC members so they can upsell staying on site at the resorts. DVC members might not be able to sell a value so well. Who knows.

I sure hope that being a DVC member didn't exclude anyone. I know for us, it was after years and years of going to WDW and learning all the ins and outs that we had a comfort level with Disney. And who is it that sells us on DVC? Other members...my friends told me it was the best investment they ever made. You realize how overwhelming WDW is when you go with someone who has never been there. It is so difficult to see everything in one week...and with the expertise we know how to get to see the very best without falling over from exhaustion. There are a lot of young nurses who work with me who rely on my WDW expertise. I give them my books (I have every edition of Birnbaum etc) and go over things with them...they are so appreciative. Even explaining the dining plan to someone is daunting. We had a friend pay $6000 to take her DH and two children to WDW for one week at the Pop Century on the"grand plan" and she had never been there...she kept saying, but everything is included...and I tried to tell her you can't do it all...and guess what, they spent most of their time at the pool...$6000....could have bought a piece of the magic for that. Hey, with 700 points, and I am by no means even upper middle class, I better know all there is to know about Disney!
