Okay - I'm not a teen I'm a mom....my almost tween is off to Middle School in September & as a graduation gift I know she would like a cell phone (I hear a lot of gasping out there since she doesn't have one already). In any event, does anyone on these boards have a Disney Mobile???? What phones are the best (and affordable)....I like the Disney phone because it has "mom" features that other phones don't have. My daughter likes the Mickey one (of course, the most expensive since it is a collectible -- like she's not going to "misplace" it right?

I would like to hear from anyone on this. Thanks!

I have now have Disney Mobile. I have the Mickey one. I knew that if I lost it i would be dead. I am 12 in July and love it! I think she'll like it.

BTW the DM-P100 from Pantech is the cheapest. $149.50

Hey...thanks for your reply --- I think she really wants the Mickey one ...she loves Donald but that's the only character one they have out there.... I wonder why that it is??? I think it would make the phones more popular if they had character ones....

It would. And because she really wants it she 99.9% will NEVER lose it and be extra careful with it.

i'd like a disney mobile but sadly they don't do it in the UK and it's not on pay as you go (at least i don't think so).

I wanted Disney Mobile, but my mom said no. She said it would cost too much money and she said something else about it, but I forgot. It might be ok I'm not sure, we just can't afford it at the moment since were going to Disney. She wanted to get us them I suspect we just can't....but I'm sure your daughter would love one. :)

I think I might buy one of those pay as you go ones for the summer. She'll be going to camp everyday and I can see her throwing her backpack with her super expensive and very cool disney phone into the pile at the pool and it getting crushed by the ice cream dude.....I'll try the "disposable" one, first. See how she does and then right before school starts (her b-day is in the very beginning of September), surprise her with the Disney phone. Would that please all involved? Any suggestions on a more "cheapo" phone for the summmer???

I don't know much about disney mobile, but what "mom" features are you looking for? I know with verizon (what I have) you could just get the print out about who she's calling/texting/etc.

i'm getting a cell phone in sept. and so is my sister and my mom is getting a new one but we needed a family plan and she is a new teacher aid thing and as u know they don't get paid very much but we would need a family plan for like $70 and the only one on disney mobile for that was only 450 minutes split between the 3 of us so......oh with disney mobile do u get texting?

I don't really know anything about Disney Mobile...

I don't know much about Disney Mobile.

But I think the age people are getting cell phones just keeps going down and down. :]

I agree, I didn't get a cell phone until my freshman year in high school, and that was only because I go to a boarding school and needed a phone for my mom to keep in touch with me. I guess the diney phones are good, but if your daughter is only 11 or 12 I wouldn't get a really expensive phone for her first one. I think the disney phones have tracking and other stuff on it, but I'm not completely sure what else. I'm sure you can find other phones that have that kind of service, actually I think Verizon has a phone kind of like the disney phone and I'm sure it's less money, and it probably has better service aswell. But,not to undermine you in anyway, I just don't understand what 11 year olds need cell phones for, they can't really do much with out their parents. I mean I understand having one for camp, but like I said I didnt get a cell until I went away to boarding school, and if I didn't go to boarding school, i probably wouldn't have gotten one until i was 16 and could do more things on my own. But it's your decision, but i would go with a cheaper phone.

I don't understand the point of the Disney Mobile service other than a parent wanting to keep track of their kid.

The Cingular (At&T) has phones for $1 when you sign up.

Hey thanks for the input guys....I think I;ll hold off on the Disney phone - it is expensive -- I already have Sprint so maybe I;ll just add a line or just get a disposable type of phone to see how she does....It's just that the Steamboat Willie one is tooooo cute to pass up....maybe at X-mas, if not for her b-day.

Thanx ;)
