my sister was at wdw last fall and got my 2 year old the coolest mr. potato heads...they were tourists, complete with mouse ears, mickey bars, autograph book/pen, camera, etc.

I'm wondering if anyone has seen these, or if you have seen girlie ones like princesses or minnie mouse? I have a friend's 2 year olds b-day and would like to get her one.

TIA!

Yep -- they're in the Al's Toy Barn at Downtown Disney. You pay for the box and it's one fee for whatever you can crap into the box. They've got probably 50 different accessories you can choose from, including all the ones you mentioned. :) :)

They're exclusive to Disney so they won't be in any normal stores outside of WDW. Good excuse to make a trip to WDW, don't you think????:)

BTW, you can get them at DTD or MGM or PC resort, although the biggest selection is at DTD.

I've seen these guys before and absolutely love them although I never picked on up.
I'm going down there again in less than a month so maybe I'll treat myself this time...
I have see Minnie and princess accessories...

You can also get them at one of the stores in Dinoland at Animal Kingdom. The CM there was great--he kept helping us stuff the box full and made a special potato head in honor of DD and I for the display.

They are the coolest things. Next time I'm getting one for me!

From what I have read on other threads, you can get a lot of parts in a box. And buy your body from wal-mart or something so you don't take up box space.

I am going to get one of these for DD for Christmas. :)

LOL! thanks! obviously this doesn't sound like something I could just order over the phone, though. hmmm...maybe I'll call and ask anyway? can't hurt. wish I could go in person and, um, cram, stuff into the box, but it is definitely not in the cards right now.

We also got these for our girls at Downtown Disney. At first DH thought they were too expensive, then he realized you could get LOTS of parts in those boxes if you arrange them right. It became a personal challenge for him - LOL.

Those have been one of the best (longest-lasting) things we bought on our trip. The girls still play with them a lot. We have lots of hats, earrings, high heeled shoes, etc. They are so cute!

Laurie :)

They are at MouseGear as well. Many people may know about this, but I have seen several people stuff their boxes without doing it... you can take a panel off the back of the potato body and actually stuff it with parts too.

I have seen them back at in the Judges Tent in Toon Town at WDW. I didn't realize that it was as much as you can fix in the box. Humm might just have to get one.

When's the b-day? If it's anytime after Sept 20, I can go and get you some stuff since we'll be down there. I can crap...oops... cram a bunch of the parts, then you can get the regular body at Toys r Us.

Anybody remember how much they cost?

I think they're now $16 or $17 a box, and it's all you can stuff in the box and still be able to close it.

You'll be amazed at how much can go in those boxes if you properly fill it up!

Thats what we did. You can get tons of stuff in the box if you dont add the head. But, if you do add the head, make sure you load the head with stuff too. We bought a box with a head and parts and 2 more boxes of just parts.
I duplicated a few things, so I am going to list some on ebay.

Oh, one more thing, the Tea Cup base makes a great jewelry holder for your dresser. I have one on mine with my watches and bracelets in it.

Bob, I'm rereading the replies and laughing all over again! I needed a good laugh today! :teeth:

I got my son's first potato head last February and my sister and I had fun packing the box. Just the fun of packing the little box was worth the price of admission!

I returned to Downtown Disney with my family in April (didn't go to WDW, but instead Universal, but we went to DD to have the potato head experience again...) and we got another box for my son, one for my sister (she'd 61yo and still a kid  :teeth: ) and one for a birthday present for my son's friend. The birthday boy's mom told me that she couldn't believe how many parts we stuffed in the box, especially when they discovered the parts that we'd stuffed into the body of the potato head.

We also have a potato that we bought at Target, but it doesn't seem to fit the custom WDW parts as well as the one bought at DD. Has anyone else experienced this?
