Disney Marathon Questions...

1st WDW Marathon and have a question. We are staying at the Boardwalk, so my wife is going to watch me there as I pass. The plan is that once I have passed she is then going to go through the back entrance of Epcot and head toward the finish line to meet me after the race. Is this doable? Can people still enter the park in the back entrance where we run in (Gateway) then walk through the park to the finish area? Thanks

Thanks Coach. I was at POR last year and will be there again this year. Last year the main stop was the one closest to my room and all the buses came there. But to be honest, I didn't pay attention to whether the buses stopped anywhere else at the resort. Actually, except for the thrill of the finish, the rest of the weekend is a big blur in my memory.

Understanding that for her to do this she needs a pass and you need a pass to come back this way... Yes. She will not see the finish but can be there around the time you clear Family reunion area.

The course runs the canal side of Boardwalk then passes behind the Atlantic Dance Hall and then over to the YC and BC and then into a back stage cast member entrance to the far left as you walk towards the I Gate. Some of the better viewing spots are on the little ledge along the BWV. Note it is very narrow here so it is easy for both of you to spot one another... Also so narrow that getting out of the way to stop is tough.

She will have to cross the marathon path as she turns left towards Great Britain and Canada. That can be a sticking point, depending on your time. Mary usually burns her pass and heads on into the World Showcase and waits for me at the corner where we head out of Great Britain and turn right towards France. She is on the good side of the course so she does not have to cross the course to get to the finish area. It is often pre-World Showcase opening for her but she has not had any issues staying to watch.

Note that we pick out a tree or spot outside of the reunion area. It is a real zoo in there. It is usually a tree just outside of the gate to the area.
