right now it just for guest at por resort and from 3-12 for domestic and 3-1 for international. you still be able to use the bag services and magical express will transport your bags you don't want to check to the stop and you have to claim them as you board. this is a heads up because if you need a lift bus it is more important now to let them know ahead of time. if the testing goes good you might see disney do more testing with more resorts and possible making all guest have to go to down town disney to catch the bus back to the airport. before 3 they will still come to por but who knows if testing goes good they may expend the hours to do more at down town disney. the stop will be in the pleasure island parking lot with signs and cms their to help.

not sure if the testing will lead to them building a new building or something with disney springs for magical express. i also don't know how all resort guest having to go to down town disney will be i am sure all the disney bus drivers are shaking their heads because this will put more stress on a system that already push to their max during busy times. well lets see how this goes so if you need a lift bus just make sure you let them know ahead of time.

It seems like very bad timing with all the DTD construction.

I can see why some people might want to do it with late flight times, but it seems a bit strange to me.

I guess as long as it is an OPTION, not a requirement, it's ok.

Me to but I also think their trying to see if popular enough to do it full time and build it into the new project so mybe they will have a nice center where they can hold bags or sit till your bus in ac.

This sounds like a way for Disney to get you to spend more money before you go home at Downtown Disney. There's enough at the resort with their gift shop and food court without having to go to Downtown Disney to spend money. If it's an option and not a requirement then I say all right; otherwise, it's more travel on the buses, not less. I can't see how that saves money or time.

You can enjoy the pool at the resort before you depart. You can relax at the resort like sleeping later. If you have to travel to get to Downtown Disney to get to the airport then that cuts into your time, more so. I don't see this as a help or a perk.

For those going to the parks on their last day it's even more troublesome to need to go to Downtown Disney to get to the airport.

REMINDER - this is just a test. NOT a done deal.
Since it is a test, it may never actually roll out as more thn a test, may not happen as more than a test for a long time or be very different when and if it ever rolls out.
As of right now, the test is an OPTION and there is no evidence it would become a requirement.

Here's a link to another thread on the subject:

I can see that they would want to complete a test before the Downtown Disney construction is completed, so they can plan for whether or not they need a 'DME Transport Facility'.

I think there are a certain number of people who might want this, but it seems like it could be a lot of trouble to me and I don't think we would ever do it, although if we have a late flight, we have gone to Downtown Disney. We stay mostly at OKW though, so hopping on and off the DTD boat to our resort is very simple.
I don't like the idea of checking carryons on the resort and trust that they will make it to Downtown for you to pick up before getting on DME.

I doubt that catching Magical Express back to the airport only at a few selected non-resort locations will ever become the standard.

You see, all of the Magical Express features so far subtracted links from the logistics of getting to and from Disney. For example automagical delivery of bags to your room cuts out the trip to baggage claim at the airport.

Whereas establishing, say, Downtown Disney as the only DME pickup for French Quarter and Riveride adds a link, namely having to go to an extra place (has been: park to resort to bus, possible future: park back to resort to DTD to bus). Very counterproductive, requires extra time to allow for gltches, final result is less time for shopping. What about 4 AM DME for 7 AM flight home?

Nothing I have seen has said this will become mandatory. It is probably in response to people saying they would like to shop a bit before heading home. Before we jump to omg they are building a new transportation center and we will have to go there to catch me, let's see what actually happens.

I disagree. I see it as a great perk. I'd much rather spend my last few hours at Disney shopping, grabbing a bite at Earl of Sandwich, and not having to worry about getting back to the hotel before the bus gets there.

You don't have to go to Downtown Disney if you don't want to. They are offering it as a choice. You can still be picked up at your hotel.

I guess I misunderstood I thought they was doing this to see if works to not go to the resort and this be the only option. If it a choice that better then you can plan what you want to do. I just don't see them adding an expense like another stop and with the amount of buses they have not sure if this will be practical without taking away other stops. Specially guest with wheelchairs are they going to buy more lift buses to handle this extra stop.

I don't think it would work for me. I cannot check all my bags because of medical equipment I must carry on the plane. I also use the lift bus and cannot carry an extra bag around. I can put a small bag on the floor of my ECV behind my legs. On days when my shoulders/elbows/wrists and/or hands are not involved, I could pull a rolling bag behind me. Most of the time, at least one of those joints is involved. Which helps explain the low number of posts for the many years I have been on the Dis! (More than 13.)

It made it seem that's magical express would transport bags you leave with bell services to the stop and you can claim them before you board the bus. I wonder if test goes well will they wait until Disney springs is down to start it or will they start it sooner. You figure Disney would try their best to keep traffic down in the area. Since that area seems to be where they are now doing construction you think they choose the martlet place or west side to so the test. But I guess they wanted them near a bus stop maybe they will be running a bus from por that just stops their and goes back.

Their doing this now because they started building he new bus station for Disney springs so they want to see if they need to build spots for magical express.

Disney getting new bigger buses which will work high volume routes like pop to mk. That why mk getting new bus station to add Dhs and ak direct buses and be able to handle the new larger buses since they have three sets of doors. So when they rebuild the bus stop at dtd/Disney springs they could factor in using the new buses to so magical express shuttles from resort to dtd. An extra bus to handle to the load. We have to see I personal can't wait to see the new buses in motion and to see where they put the ramp I think it going to go in the front just because I think it to big to put the ramp on the second set of doors. Unless they come up with a ramp that dose not need the bus to tilt. Also like to see how Disney configures the seats.

The articles I read, it is an OPTION for people with later flights, NOT a replacement.

They could not have all picks ups at DTD - the logistics of transporting everyone and all their carry on bags to DTD would be a nightmare. It would also not be available for people with early or late flights when DTD is not open - so it would make no sense at all to move all pick ups there.

Your right i misunderstood it I thought they was doing the test to see if they can replace resort pick ups I do hope some people choose to do it make Disney feel like they spent the money and didn't waste it.

Well, I'm hoping this is on through November as I am trying to book airfare and flights seem a lot cheaper leaving later in the day. It would definitely benefit Disney as I'm sure some money will be spent in DTD!

Not sure if they set a end date for it I am sure if it going bad it end early and if it going good next might be adding more resorts. Like ones that you need to take a bus to dtd to see how that goes.

I am also not sure if they will keep it after test or hold off to the springs are done. I just don't know how much stress Disney wants to out on their own system because their doing a lot of work and if you start adding a lot more buses it my male traffic worse. So they may do this test may be do other resort then regroup and see. Because soon and it already a night mare to park as people on the podcast said how many buses they want to be in that area. It dose make sense when your closing park lots makes new bus station to start to add more buses to that area unless it will cut down on cars. But it Disney if anyone can make it work it be them just be interesting to see if they like it will they start it with all resort are try to wait till they start finishing the springs.
