My boyfriend and I will be flying into Orlando tomorrow and we would like to utilize the Disney's Magical Express. We'll be staying at a Disney resort with friends. However, the reservation is under our friends' names and we haven't been added. I was wondering if we can still take the ME and what steps do we have to take in order to do so? Will they check IDs or require some sort of documentation for us to get on the bus?
It would seem that you are trying to save money by not be added to the reservation. BUT...in the long run, it is going to cost you. You have a few options...
1. get added to the reservation and then be able to ride DME and use EMHs in the parks.
2. use Mears shuttle for about $35 pp r/t. You can head to Mears area upon arrival at MCO (level 1, before you get to DME area) and they will get you to the resort. But, again, no EMHs for you.
3. a car service but that will run around $100+
There is no way you are getting on the DME bus without a confirmation. And you can't get that confirmation if you aren't on a resort reservation. You are sent a packet with vouchers in it..these get scanned at the bus line. If you don't have your vouchers with you, you have to go to the DME counter, give them ID for each person in the group and then the CM brings up the resort reservation to match the names on the reservation to the IDs. If your name isn't on that reservation, you aren't getting a voucher.
And as far as those EMHs go??? Sure, you'll be able to stay in the parks with your friends, but you'll be standing outside the attractions, waiting for them to get done riding it. You have to show a room key in order to access each attraction during EMHs. No room key, no ride.
