Disney Magical Express question

I have a Sunday to Sunday reservation. I was considering arriving to MCO late Saturday night, then taking an airport shuttle to an airport hotel, then having the hotel shuttle me back to the airport in the morning to take Magical Express over to the Saratoga Springs.

Would this work?, Has anyone attempted this? or do you have to take Magical Express immediately after your flight? Does your luggage still make it to the Disney resort even if you are not checked in until the next morning (Was planning on still using the DME luggage tags and just taking overnight clothes in the carry on)?

You can not tag your bags and have them delivered to your resort if you arrive a day early. The entire reservation is contingent upon your resort reservation. I'm not really sure what would happen if you tagged your checked bags with the DME tags, for arrival the day before your reservation starts. Yes, the bags would most likely get pulled from the plane. BUT...the tags are scanned at several points. If the arrival date doesn't match up with the reservation date, your bags could very well go back to baggage claim, to go round and round until they were pulled off, to be set aside in some office somewhere. THey might be collected in the morning...but who knows for sure?? Not me. That's just not a chance I would take with my bags.

Yes, you can spend the night at an airport area hotel and then take DME from MCO to your resort in the morning. But...you'll have to get your checked bags from baggage claim and bring them to your hotel with you, and then over to the DME bus the next morning. But, truly, that isn't such an awful thing. It's pretty easy to do.
