So, we have always gone to Disney for 10 to 14 day trips. This time we are flying down for just 7 days. So, my question is we have a 4pm flight. Are we able (Port Orleans Riverside) to leave our bags somewhere and go eat before we have to head to the airport?

You can check your luggage with Bell Services at your resort. They'll hold it as long as you need.

Checked bags you can leave with the airline drop off; they'll get them to the airport for you.

Any carry-on bags you should be able to leave with bell services. They'll hold them until it is time to leave.

Be sure to tip both. :thumbsup2

If you are using Resort Airline Check-in,they will take your checked bags.

Resort Airline Check-in is a compeletly separate "entity" from Disney's Magical Express.

For your carry-ons,Bell Services will store them for you until DME arrives.:)

If you are checking bags with the airline at the resort, be aware that they close sharply at 1 PM, even if you are on line. Be there early. When we fly out late we do the airline check-in in the early morning, and check our carry ons with bell services. We pick the carry ons up shortly before the bus arrives. With a 4 PM flight, expect your scheduled bus pick up to be around 1 PM.

Based on the responses I'd think its important not to have your carry-on as well as any travel documents you might need at the airport to go through Magic Express, right? So do we tag the luggage that will go through ME and take our carry on out to the baggage area on the day we check out?

We usually have a later flight too. Our normal procedure is to bring all of our bags down in the morning. We go to airline check-in, check our bags to be checked and get our plane tickets, and then walk over to bell services to have them hold our carry-ons.

If you are using Resort Airline Check-in,they will tag your luggage right there and you won't see it again until you arrive at your "home" airport.

Resort Airline Check-in also prints your Boarding Pass.

Resort Airline Check-in is a "separate" entity from Disney's Magical Express,

DME is just the bus service to and from IOA.

If you don't want to use Resort Airline Check-in,you can leave all luggage with Bell Services until the DME bus arrives.

This. In addition, any carry on bags (including important travel docs) can be stored with bell services before you head out for the day. When you come back, before you proceed to the Magical Express area to board the bus, you will need to pick up your bags at bell services and bring them on the bus with you. You do NOT want any carry-on items or anything that you may need in the bag that you leave with Resort Airline Check-in because you won't see that bag again until you're home.

If you're referring to the yellow ME tags...those are only for arrival, not for departure. For departure, you can either check your bags at the resort via Resort Airline Checkin (if eligible) or you can take them with you on the ME and check them at the airport. You would not check your carryon luggage regardless of which checkin method you use (RAC or at the airport)...the checkin process is only for checked luggage and not for carryon luggage. Carryon luggage wouldn't go to any "baggage area"...you carry that with you on your person onto ME through the airport and onto the airplane. If you have a carryon that you don't want to lug around with you on departure day, just leave it with Bell Services but then carry it with you onto the bus.
