Disney Magic Western Caribbean 10/9/2015

We love the Magic. She was our first ship and we love the re-imagined version. We are doing b2b because 5 days is not long enough!! :) We are actually in the Reimagined Magic video that DCL made right after she came out of dry dock. :snooty: We saw them filming in Animators, but had no idea we were on film until a cruising friend alerted us! We have done a few longer cruises, TA, 2 PCs, Hawaii 15 night and love the sea days. This will give us 2 days at CC as well. We have been to all the ports, so may just make those additional sea days or maybe a quick walk around the port area. Good friends that we met on the TA are sailing with us and we plan to play a lot of cards and spend time relaxing and enjoying each other's company.

Oh MM1 I will agree with you 5 days for a cruise is also to short... we are doing a B2B also, but your 2nd part is our 1st part.. And 2 stops at CC.. who could complain about that..

We have not been on the Magic in at least 5 years, so looking we are also looking forward to being on her again. For us the Magic will always be Home.. And this is not a back handed slap at the larger ships.. They are wonderful, but we so love the look of the Magic.

We were leaving the Fantasy after Sandy, and saw the Magic arriving from Dry Dock

May I ask, the last time you sailed on the Magic, did they still do the Small World Parade the last night????? I was so disappointed that they did not do that on the larger ships..

Small World Parade the last night?? 18 cruises and I'm sorry to say I don't know about this. They do have the servers do a "parade" in one of the restaurants with all their flags. Is this what you are asking about? I never noticed it was on the last night.

Yes that was the Parade, it was on the last night of the cruise with the baked Alaska.. Here is a you tube of one.. This Crowd was a little sedate from some of the ones we have been on..

Well, then, the answer is yes. They still have that on both the Magic and Wonder.

Oh Many Many thanks... that was a simple little thing, that we as a family had grown to miss.. And thanks to the wonders of you tube that saved me from having to type 100s of words with musical notes to describe it.. As Well, it helped me fix the drain the other day :)

It's been awhile since anyone posted a comment. We are so excited. Is there an FE group?
We are from Los Alamos, NM.

Hello. We are on this cruise too! This will be our 5th cruise, but our first Disney cruise! We can't wait to experience cruising Disney style! There is a FE group already running for this cruise. Go to Facebook and search for "Disney Magic October 9, 2015 Western Caribbean". BTW, we are your neighbors; we are from Colorado. Hope you enjoy the cruise!

Was on DCL site earlier today,(I get on just to look and see what categories are still available), and our October 9 cruise is gone now from the offerings! Did anyone else notice this? I'm guessing that our cruise
is going to be FULL!

It should not be a problem. We're on a little ship compared to the Dream and Fantasy. And they bring those ships to Castaway Cay for the day. We've been on the Dream at Castaway Cay and the crowd was fine. It will be much better with just the Magic.

We are first time Disney Cruisers on the cruise too. We just booked last night :)

It will be me, my DH, and DD (10) and DS (8). :cool1:

What do I need to know??/ First Timer and nervous b/c we want to have FUN!!!!

What is an FE? Sounds interesting? :confused3
How exciting! You will have a wonderful time on the cruise. When we booked our first cruise (we have done 6) the thing I was most nervous about was the documentation. I was terrified I would forget something and not be able to get on the ship! I hand carried all of our documents until we got to check-in. We were flying across the country and did not want to risk putting anything in the suitcase. Once we got through check-in, which was a breeze, it was the start of a amazing cruise. If you have time, take a tour of the ship before the drill. Your family can tour the entire ship, which is fun on your first cruise. After the drill, just relax and have fun! Have a wonderful cruise.

That is neat your 1st Disney cruise, what other cruise lines have you been on before???? It will be interesting to get your comparisons between the various lines..

Here are our other cruises:
Royal Caribbean
• Carnival
• Princess
• Norwegian

The whole family agrees that Carnival comes in last place, Norwegian was second to last and we are split on Royal Caribbean and Princess. Looking forward to comparing these cruise lines to Disney!

Wow that is a nice sampling over the Cruise companies... I am envious,

May I Ask what you liked Best of each Cruise line..????

We have traveled with Royal Caribbean and Disney.. Have liked Disney the Best.. But Loved the Style of the Royal Carribean Radiance of the Seas class ships, Really liked the Glass Walls and Elevators..

PS,,

OPPS forgot our 1st cruise was on the big Red Boat, when they sailed for Disney. Now there is no comparing the Big Red Boat to any in the current Disney fleet... But we have nothing but warm & fuzzys for the big Red Boat.. It was a wonderful chance to sail on those beautiful Italian cruise ships of the 1960s..Which now sadly are almost all gone.

The Big Red Boat cruise sounds like a fun, unique experience.

Let's see....
1. Royal Caribbean - This was our first cruise, so the experience was new and we were pretty awestruck by everything. We loved the openess and cleanliness of everything, and the decor was great. The staff was very friendly and the kids loved the clubs. It was amazing to eat lunch out on the open deck in the middle of the ocean.
2. Carnival - This was our second cruise, and after the RC experience our expectations were pretty high. Unfortunately the decor and cleanliness did not live up to those of RC. The buffet room had low ceilings and felt very dark and closed in. It is hard to explain, but the whole experience just felt like a step below the other cruise lines.
3. Princess - This was our third cruise and it was tied for the best experience with RC. The ship had a giant TV screen above the pool that the whole family really enjoyed. The kids loved the clubs, good food, friendly staff, great itinerary (Princess Cay, Caracau, and Aruba), family friendly comedy and magic shows, and the ship decor and clenliness were great.
4. Norwegian - This was our most recent cruise. We didn't have the "stepped down" feeling we got from Carnival; but the food wasn't as good as the other lines, the staff not as friendly, the kids clubs were a mess, and the ship was kind of boring.

We don't want to get our hopes up too high, but we are are expecting Disney to blow us away. We are so excited and can't wait until October!

From what I have read over on Cruise critic, Carnival has such a large fleet, that some of their older ships sometimes are not as nice as their newer or refurbished ships..

Two tips for the Disney ships that I would like to share, Make sure you make reservations when your booking window opens and do both the Polo Brunch and Dinner.. Its really wonderful..

And you can order Mickey Bars from room service 24 hours a day, and they deliver them to your room, and they are Free.. Honest to goodness FREE,,, (I sometimes wonder how those ships can stay in Business:) )

Is anyone bringing Halloween costumes for their family, in addition to pirate costumes? I keep reading mixed reviews of Halloween parties on the Disney ships. I don't mind buying and packing another set of costumes, but do not want to waste our carry-on luggage space.

Hello Silviakl

Well I do not know what to really tell you, The Halloween events are kinda what you want to make them. And how much time & efforts you want to take.

I know in a couple of cruises, guests had their own room to room trick or treating to boot.

Disney has a costume parade that families show up dressed in their costumes, Some of the costumes are so over the top, it it unreal the efforts some people have made.
One large family showed up as Cinderellas coach with some of the kids as horses for the carriage. I saw them when they left the ship and they must have had 20 large travel cases.

But to help a little here is a commercial. That tree (which is on he Fantasy) was pretty cool

We do not bring costumes, but enjoy seeing what some of the others bring

Hmmmm ... if we do dress up our costumes will have to fit in our carry-ons. Nothing as elaborate as Cinderella's coach. :-)

So what is everyone on this thread planning on doing as far as Halloween costumes?
