Disney Magic - Nov 10, 2012 - Western Caribbean from Galveston - Sun, Fun & Beaches!

I know we can hardly wait. It feels like forever until it will get here, but the way this year went, it will be here before we know it.

Now that the "business" for Christmas is over, I'm thinking of our cruise in Nov. This will be our first cruise!

:cool1: So excited for 2010 and all that it promises!! Hope everyone has a safe and happy New Year!!
Huh?:rolleyes1 Did we go back in time???? Gee that makes our cruise 2 years away then! Not 10 months!:scared1:
BUT, I'm making the assumption you meant 2012, and that we're almost at that 'pregnant' stage that DW calls it where we will be 9 months away! I'll get these next 2 trips looked after and then really focus on November's fun.

Who's all been to Grand Cayman before? Any insights?

Yes I meant 2012 and fixed it. It just goes along with the day we had today :headache:

We haven't been there, but have friends and family that have. They say the snorkeling is amazing.

Hi to everyone who has booked this cruise! I posted early, but I'll sort of reintroduce us. We're traveling with a party of 6, my mom and step-father, me and my husband, and our two children, who'll be almost 2 and 7 at the time of the sailing. (We're sharing a large cabin, and I'm really interested in seeing how that will work...)

I love the idea of doing a fish extender exchange, so count us in! We've never sailed with DCL before, but I've read about the exchanges, and thought they sounded like a lot of fun.

We cruise a fair amount, and we've been to Grand Cayman several times. It's one of our favorite ports to do with (in our case, young) children. The ocean life is beautiful. We've done glass bottom boat, semi-submersible, private submarine, and snorkeling, so we've been able to enjoy the sea life even when we had non swimmers in our party. No, it's not the absolute best in the Caribbean, but it's very, very good. (Oh, and for the record, we liked the glass bottom boat least, but enjoyed all the different ways of exploring the reefs and seeing the sights under the sea.)

The most famous thing to do is probably Stingray City (swim with and pet wild stingrays!), and we absolutely loved the Turtle Farm as an activity with young children. Our son got to pet turtles, which was a highlight for him, and we got to hold some turtles, which made for some great memories and photo ops. It's very touristy, but we thought it was completely worth it.

We're not sure exactly what we're going to do this trip. The baby can't go out to Stingray City on the cruise sponsored excursions, and when traveling with a child that young, I prefer to do cruise sponsored excursions so the ship will wait for us if the tour runs long. We may do it anyway, just book independently, or we may just go to the turtle farm for the afternoon. Our son absolutely adored the turtle farm when he was about the age she'll be then, so we know we need to include it on this trip somehow. (He also wants to go back, since he doesn't remember it too well, but loves looking at the pictures of himself there.)

We're excited about the cruise, and really curious about what Disney will do to make it different from the other cruiselines we've tried. I sort of hope it isn't SO much better that it ruins us for all other lines ;-)

Glad to see some posts - I was still in post cruise withdrawal - but then again I still am :) Glad to hear all is well and looking forward to dreaming about November's magic together!

I know we are super excited. I have a few business trips and we have our summer place to look forward to, but I can't wait until November

Greetings from Cambodia guys! Weather's beautiful here, but DW and family are not with me :(.
We're flying to MCO in 2.5 weeks for a fix on MK, but really, really looking forward to November as well! Keep it up! We'll be there soon.

We had to move our cruise. My company is having their leadership summit the same time as the cruise so we had to move it. The compromise for having to move it was that I agreed to do the Fantasy so we are going in February due to my husbands work schedule. I hope everyone has a great cruise!!

Sorry to read you're 'leavin us' at least your ports of call are better including Castaway Cay!
We're here at POR now & having an awesome time. Looking more forward to this November!

Hope you are having an amazing time!! POR is my favorite resort!
Never stayed here before, but so far we like it the best out of the ones we have stayed at. Had a character dining at 1900 Park Fare at GF tonight and WOW! What a resort that is! As much as I like POR, GF is one that I would really love to stay at!
Okayyyy, enough dreaming! That may happen in the future, but not the near future.

love Park Fare!! We thought about that one but then decided on Boardwalk for the atmosphere. While the deluxe are very nice, we found we didn't use any of the amenities since we were always at the park. We are the ones that always book the extra days to relax at the resort and then end up back at the parks.

Have a great trip!!

Hey Everyone! We're back from our 'November Getaway'. I say that as the trip was postponed from the original November dates for family reasons.

So, we're NOT Disney'd out, but at least we got our fix pre-cruise. We're now excited about our upcoming cruise with all of you and any other 'new' people that decide to join us here. Since we were the only people on the bus to the airport our DME driver put on the Disney Cruise video rather than the regular Disney World video. We took private transportation for our first Disney cruise so it was nice to finally see what others have already seen. Anyway, it got us in the mood for this year's November getaway!

FYI, last time we hooked up with another DIS family on our previous cruise' thread and shared a limo to the port. It's significantly cheaper than the DME to the port. If anyone else would like to do likewise, let's set something up a couple months ahead so we can save some $$ for our excursions. There will be 5 of us and there are some limo companies that can take up to 10.

We have quiet thread - looking forward for the cruise to getting here soon - maybe it will pick up and build some excitement!
