Disney Magic - 05/10/13 (May 10, 2013) - Calling All Kids At Heart

If the shuttle stops May 15, call and try to book one-way from HOU to the cruise terminal. It could be trying to book round trip is returning the "not available" to the Disney CM. Doesn't solve getting you back, but you might meet someone on board with a car big enough to drop you off :)!

Makes complete sense. Getting down there would definitely be the bigger challenge, so this idea is perfect.

We'll just make lots of friends :)

DanReviewsCars: I called our TA today about the shuttles from Hobby airport. She called Disney and they told her that shuttles ARE running from Hobby through May (until the Magic departs. There will be no shuttles for the Wonder from Hobby when it arrives in Galveston.) Our TA went ahead and added the shuttles to our reservation.

But....just to make double sure....I called Disney myself! ::yes:: I spoke with a rep who assured me that shuttles are running from Hobby through May.

You may want to call Disney back (maybe ask for a supervisor.) Sounds like you may have gotten an agent who wasn't aware of the Hobby shuttle policy.

I'm relieved! The Disney shuttle is more reasonable than anything I was finding online via private transfer. We definitely had a good experience with Disney shuttles on our December 2012 cruise.

Hi, we just booked this cruise, our first Disney. We will probably be the only old people on the ship without kids or grandkids...lol. Hope we have dinner seating with several other childless couples, love to meet others and have great dinner conversations.

Trying to figure out how everything works! Have signed up for the 7:15 bus to Epcot--question--do you need to sign up for a returning bus? If so, how? Will we receive our luggage tags in the mail? Should we reserve rafts/inner tubes, snorkeling equipment etc for CC on line or can this be done once on the island for the same price? We are experienced cruisers, but for some reason, this feels like our first cruise and seem to have lots of questions.

Would appreciate any help.

Thanks

Welcome!

You might be surprised at how many older people cruise Disney! We took a cruise out of Galveston back in December. I was really surprised to get on the Disney airport shuttle and find that our daughter age 28 was the youngest person on the shuttle! Everyone else was probably mid 50s up to about age 80! We enjoyed listening to a couple of military veterans talk about their experience during WWII of all things! Because of the great military rate and this cruise being during school (same as our December cruise), I won't be surprised if there are a number of retired veterans sailing again.

You do sign up for a bus TO Disney World, as you said, but coming back it is my understanding that buses leave the parks at regular intervals starting at something like 3 p.m. until somewhere around 10:30 p.m. and you just get on a bus when you are ready. Apparently they explain the process on the stateroom TV once we are on board.

Looking forward to a great cruise!

You're wonderful - thank you. I'll call Costco (our "TA") and book the r/t shuttle today. And yes, it's way more reasonable! The least-expensive option we found otherwise was ExecuCar at $110 each way, plus gratuity.

Costco is our TA also.....love that cash card for booking Disney cruises with them! Hope you were able to get the airport shuttle problem resolved!

Hello All!
I appreciate all of you who have let me know if you want to exchange with the whole group or a split portion. Unless you tell me otherwise by Sunday, I will assume that you would like to be a part of a split group. Here is our current list link-https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AkIxIiMtjoLedHZ5S2lObHhjWDlxZVQ5MWhPNnoxT0E&usp=sharing

If my system seems too confusing, I can organize the info in a different way. This is just a draft as some staterooms may be exchanging with the whole group. As of today, the yellow group "A" will exchange and include the "A/B" green group. The blue group "B" will exchange and include the "A/B" green group.

KSLATL suggested assigning certain days to deliver so that the gifts are spread out well. I think that it's a nice idea, and is just an optional suggestion. I placed a number 1-7 next to each stateroom, but if you prefer to deliver on another day, please do what works best for you.

This is my first FE exchange, so please share any suggestions. Also, if you have any corrections for me, don't hesitate to PM or email at becca.zpack@gmail.com.

See you all in 1 month and 6 days!

My 7 year old grandson and I will be on the Magic in May! We are both very excited and looking forward to this cruise. This is my third Disney cruise and his first.
:yay:

Thank you again for all of your hard work with this! When you get the chance, can you add my husband and I to the 21+ column? We would love to participate along with the kids. :)

On our last Disney cruise, some of our luggage didn't arrive to our cabin (MY suitcases!!!) until nearly midnight. We are down for day 1 delivery; however, this may be tricky when waiting on luggage.

This will be our 4th time participating in an FE and I suggested assigning certain days for handing out gifts on our first cruise. The "seasoned" cruisers told me that it is best to hand out FE gifts whenever you have time or feel up to it. Even at 20+ staterooms (I've been in a group that was 40 cabins), it is a lot of searching and walking around. But then, you get to see all the creative ways cruisers decorate their doors. Good exercise and fun too! I let my boys deliver a few and my husband or I do the rest. I've roamed the halls well past midnight before handing out FE gifts while my family is passed out in bed. Some families like to get them out the first night, some wait for Pirate night to hand out "booty", while others buy gifts from the different ports. All in all, have fun and try not to stress out about it.

Understood it just fine! So excited for this cruise!!!!!!

Now to make a FE and figure out what to give! And make some door magnets. :)

I made some signs for our door. All Brave themed :) We're of irish descent, not scottish, but it's the closest we can get with disney so far ;)

I am fine with getting rid of the day assignment. I can understand how it could be stressful. I was just trying to help. I appreciate Becca so much for organizing this FE group! If I can help in any way please let me know. I really hope to run into you on the boat! We are getting close! Super excited!!!

Nope, you are not the only ones on the ship without children or grandchildren. :) We are also in your same category. Who knows, maybe they will assign us together. :cool1:

We decided to do Animal Kingdom first since we've never been there. Not sure where we will be after that. We are going to end our day at Epcot. We've signed up for the Illuminations port adventure. It was highly recommended here on the boards. It allows you a private seating area, and desserts are served while you have prime viewing for the fireworks show at the end of the day. According to the reports of past cruisers, they will then escort you to a waiting bus to make it back to port. Will be nice not to have to find seating for the fireworks or scramble for a bus.

I wanted to do one of the dessert things, but we couldn't get res's at Ohana until 925pm. :/ I keep looking to move it earlier. The best I've gotten is 10 min earlier *LOL*

Becca you have done an amazing job organizing the group. Thank you sooo much.

Can't wait to meet you all.

We booked the Dessert and Fireworks at Tomorrowland Terrace. It's going to be a looooooooong day so it will be nice to sit down and relax before heading back to the ship.

For those who live in tx, are you driving in the night before or morning of? We're out in temple, and I thought we'd do the 4 hr drive the morning of the 10th to make our 1200 embarkation time, but now I'm freaking out that something will happen and we'll miss the ship!

Thoughts?
