Just got my summer copy of Disney Magazine....with a wrap around on it saying it was the last issue, they are closing it down.
:sad2:

This was a great magazine for fans of everything Disney, from the cruise line, to the parks, to the movies.
My options are to get Disney Adventures, or Family Fun to the time remaining on my subscription........or if I call, my money back.
Now there isn't an adult Disney magazine around. Gather this was sudden because several articles mention things they WERE going to do in future issues.
Been a subscriber for more years than I care to remember.

I was pretty bummed when our "last" issue came, too. I decided to get a refund....we don't have kids (unless you count the dogs, but they just sleep on the magazine...see the pic below!) I completely agree they have left out a complete group of Disney lovers! I asked the operator on the phone when I cancelled to please tell the powers that be that they have really done a bad thing :confused3

Disney Magazine to publish last edition this summer

From staff and news-service reports

Disney Magazine, which has a circulation of roughly 500,000, will publish its final edition this summer after more than 30 years of informing Disney fans about the company's past, present and future.

Known as an "insider's guide," it covered people and events related to the theme parks and other Disney entertainment.

Disney Magazine lost a significant number of subscribers after the company closed its Disney Club and Magic Kingdom Club, fan clubs that offered promotions and discounts.

That affected the "financial viability" of Disney Magazine, said Glenn Rosenbloom, vice president of the consumer magazines group.

Disney's magazine group also is exploring the sale of Discover Magazine to focus on its target audience of families and children.

It publishes FamilyFun and Disney Adventure and plans to launch Wondertime, targeting mothers of children younger than 6.

Disney Magazine employed nearly 20 people, and the company is trying to place them in other positions within publishing, Rosenbloom said.
