Here are three possibilities, and the probability that each is correct:
  • 90% -- The real estate sources actually believe the rumors, but, alas, they are false rumors, just like the hundreds of other false rumors about Disney acquiring large amounts of land in other places.
  • 9.9999% -- The real estate sources know there's no truth to the rumor, but they use the rumor to drive up interest (and prices) of Sevier County, Tennessee, real estate.
  • 0.0001% -- It's really true.

Wouldn't surprise me to see a DVC location pop up there.

It would suprise me quite a bit. Since the off-site DVC properties were lukewarm at best, I would think any other off-site property would be something more along the lines of Hawaii or San Diego. But any off-site property right now would shock me.

And by the way Horace, I think I'd give choice number 2 a much higher probability percentage.

There's also another option: that Disney is indeed buying the property, but with no plans whatsoever to actually develop it. Several large companies/organizations (even ones you wouldn't think of, like Universities) have "real estate" arms, that buy and sell improved and unimproved real estate for investment purposes, strategic purposes, and for potential future development for the company itself. So, some of these rumors about "Disney buying property in X" could be real, though they don't mean "Disney will be building something in X."

WDW seems to attract fewer southerners than the geography would suggest. The cost of living is lower in the South, so $200+ for a hotel room seems outrageous.

I think Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort has finally come into its own and attracted Southerners.

My sisters in NW Alabama visit Pigeon Forge often, and are taking the kids to WDW for the 1st time in April and are staying with us in our Boardwalk DVC.

I would  for DVC to go to Pigeon Forge, and would love for my sisters to buy into DVC. Disney's Pigeon Forge Resort might just do the trick!:woohoo:

is that there is some discussion about a development that would be similar to Downtown Disney (shops, dining, entertainment). I'm uncertain of the location, but they did want it to be off from Dolly Parton Pkwy - so Veteran's would be a good fit. However, I haven't heard any direct connection to Disney, other than perhaps the some of the same people involved in planning that were involved with Downtown Disney. Seems like this discussion has happened in PF previously and didn't go anywhere. I'll post anything further that I hear.

:lmao: The secret is out! Disney is definitely going to build two, not one, but two new parks in the US! The one will be built at Pigeon Forge, TN and will be connected by monorail/bullet train (elevated, of course!) to the second park in Texas, where a land purchase has been confirmed. I believe that the "attached" hotel will be near the Branson, MO area. :rotfl2:

Yes I have heard the rumors also..as I live here and the people that heard it were so certain it was a fact  . But we have had many such projects, with write ups in the paper and one even went ahead and but a two page ad in the phone book and they never materialized. So I don't believe it until I see it and even then I am not so sure. ;)

I am just wanting to know where this info came from. I stopped my local AAA office today, for Disney Days. The rep that I told said, he was not aware of this & it also was to close to Disney. Any replys would be great. Have a great Sat.
