I read an article on my weight loss site that Disney had to let thousands of employees go at both parks. Has anyone heard anything about that? I wonder if there will be a visible difference in the parks. I mean regarding customer service, longer waits, or rides closing. I feel bad for anyone having to lose a job during these hard times. We sure do appreciate the hard work the CM's put forth to make our vacations special!:confused3

i read somewhere they let 1900 people go. :( it was a few weeks ago, so i don't have the link. i hope those people are able to find jobs fast.

Most if not all the layoffs or demotions came to management at Disneyland. It sounds like maybe some in park CM's were layed off at WDW, but again not so at DLR.

The interesting thing from what I am reading is that it has changed DLR in that more management is getting in the park and getting their hands a bit more dirty so to say and hands on. Otherwise guests wont see many changes.

Most of the layoffs across Walt Disney Parks and Resorts during this round have come in Backstage and Office roles.

At this time, no Hourly Guest Service Cast Member, Union or Non Union, has been affected.

I have seen more suits in the park today than I ever have. Helping on rides asking how our day is going. :thumbsup2 our Disney experience this week so far has been outstanding. Not a surly CM in sight.

So I would think the layoffs have not directly effected the park atleast not from what we have experienced.

You said exactly what I would have :goodvibes

they are trying to cut back in the workforce all over so a lot of the firing policy are strictly enforced now. :(
