Good evening,

Just curious if anyone has ever heard of WDW in FL ever discounting rooms at the last minute for a single night stay.

We are going to MVMCP tomorrow night and are planning on just driving back to my folks place (2 hrs) but if we could stay on property for a discounted rate (more than currently available) we would be interested.

Thanks for the insights.

No, they don't run discounts for last minute bookings.

If there are designated discounted rooms available, you can book one. If not, you will pay rack.

We booked same day reservations at Disney a few times to extend a trip and we paid full price every time.

Twice, when I was on property, I decided I wanted to switch resorts mid stay. We had booked with a discount and when I changed, I couldn't even get that same discount for the new rooms. I was forced to pay rack rate.

Of course, I wanted to move and didn't care but getting a last minute discount just did not happen either one of the these times.

They have discounts right now. A couple of days ago, I booked Pop for Nov. 16 for $76, because we wanted an extra night.

I don't think that's what they're asking. They're showing up TODAY, and are seeing if there's any discounts for booking as a walk-up, so that they can stay after MVMCP.

It's actually quite the opposite - unless booked in advance Disney doesn't offer any discounts, only rack rate.

Totally agree; resorts are a different animal. Like Disney, they don't have to offer discounts for a last minute reservation.

They have enough discounts throughout the year that they don't need to do last minute reservations. They can charge rack rate and they will get it.

Makes sense ...

Thought I would ask ... Looks like we'll just turn around and come back to my folks place after MVMCP it's only a couple hours drive.

Thanks for all the input folks.

If it was booked last night... the Oct-Dec discount would have worked. But unfortunately now it's too late! Have a great time!!!

Yeah we had looked at that one ... and were looking for something even better. We could actually still book that one over the phone but we've decided to just come back home. No worries.

Have a great trip .. looks like your's begins in two days.

Cheers.

All hotels are this way. The worst possible rate you will ever get is when you walk up same day. People get the impression that they discount rooms at the last minute because of those those sell of vacation commercials. 3rd party discounters do things a different way than hotels do. They want to get rid of their rooms because they've already paid for them and they are worthless once the date passes but hotels don't care if they are sold out or only almost sold out.

If you just don't want to make a long drive at night, look off property. I am often able to get 3 star hotels for around 35 dollars using hotwire. Two stars just to sleep can be as cheap as 20 dollars. I know it isn't Disney, but it beats doing a 3 hour drive while exhausted.
