Great trip. Ready to book another. Here's a short run down of our Disney experience that I wished to share with you all. I new wife and I got married May 19th (6 years to the day of our first date for all you romantics). Sunday Morning at 6:20am we checked our bags at our home airport and flew to Orlando, once there we were greeted my loads of DCL employees, the took us to our bus and the on to our hotel, we stayed at Port Orleans Riverside, upon arrival, which was about 11:30 am, we were given our key to the world cards and told our room was ready. We went to our room, to drop off our carry-on and found our bags had beaten us to the room and were already setup and ready to unpack. Spent the rest of the afternoon at Epcot and caught Illuminations that night.
Monday we headed to MK, big mistake, everyone goes to MK on Monday, it was shoulder-to-shoulder people. Did meet Mickey on the stern wheel boat however, so not all was bad. Took a break in the afternoon (no kids, we needed the nap) and went back for Diner at the Castle that night.
Tuesday was MGM, it wasn't busy at all (97 degrees, but not busy). No Fastpasses at all, never needed one, walked on to every ride, Rockin' Coaster 3 times (It truly rocks). Had lunch at the space arcade place (cant think of the name) from Toy Story, looks just like the movie J, dinner at Mama Melrose, with PS for Fantasmic. Got to Fantasmic a little early, sat down and it poured the rain for about an hour. The place all but emptied. The Cotton Candy and Soda vendors may not have had a good night, but the one dude selling $6 ponchos made a killing. Rain stopped, Show went on. It was a true highlight of the trip.
Wednesday, back to MK. We were there at opening time and it was great, the stuff that was to busy to do on Monday, we walked straight on. Except the Pooh ride, which only runs it seems Friday through Monday. Got our picture with Pooh though, that helped make up for it to my wife (a huge Pooh fan). Then finished of Epcot that afternoon.
Thursday, AK, not much time there though. Just a quick tour. Then headed to the Disney Wonder. The cruise was amazing. First cruise ever. Makes me wonder if anybody can do it like Disney. Thursday night Hercules the Muse-ical was great. Friday they premiered Pearl Harbor. Only cruise ship to do that I bet. Did like Nausea much at all. Should have booked an excursion. It just seemed overcrowded, dirty, and not that to walk down the street ( not as much because of be robbed or something, they just cant drive). Castaway Cay was killer, we stayed on the adult beach all day, even through the rainy afternoon, it just meant it was empty. We had also been advised, here on the boards that the spa treatment at the Vista (the one for couples, cant think of that name either) was worth its time. IT WAS!!! We should all be able to do that every day. Ours was at 9:30am, which seemed bad at first, but what a way to start your day. Our stateroom host, Miguel, was wonderful too. He fit the joke of: you get up at 2 am to use the bathroom and when you come back your beds been made. He was that good. The food was great of course too. I cant say enough about our trip. It lived up to being Disney; everything was taken care of for us perfectly. If I had to find one bad thing it would be the buses at the parks and resorts. Theyre friendly and wonderful. But it seems you can always get a bus to a park or store where as getting back is a whole other story. They say 20-30 minutes max wait. This isnt true. If you are leaving a park at an odd time and your party of 2 is the only one there most of the buses arent making round trips. Once 10-12 people are waiting then the transportation people call in a bus to pick you up. Do you have any idea how long you have to wait on 12 people to leave AK at 10:30 am? But that was the only downside. The parks, the restaurants, the stores, the resort, and especially the cruise were everything I could have expected. Your key to the world card hold true to its name. Its Disney!!!
